I have a new 2009 ford mustang with factory HID headlights - bought it in US & brought it to Canada - we cannot get the HID headlight option in canada so the dealers have little or no info on it - ie dancing in the dark. So I am having trouble with the driver side hid headlight dropping from high beam into low beam - it does this via a solenoid that you can hear click as you switch from high to low beams or vice versa (passenger side works fine) - when I switch to high beam and then try to switch to low beam the driver side headlight sticks in high - but as soon as you tap the headlight or pop the hood the solenoid inside the headlight releases and the light drops from high to low beam (ie the solenoid sticks) My local ford dealer tells me he has to run a battery of tests to figure out if it is the solenoid or not - and he admits he dosen't even know where the solenoid is!! does anyone know where the solenoid is located in these headlights ?? is it the silver box right on the back of the headlight that is under the rubber cup covering ? or is it inside the black plastic housing- and requires complex removal of the housing from the car ??
