I think you quoted the wrong guy......I am a grown man and can afford a couple of new vettes if I wanted them, but I am a die-hard GM hater, so why would I want to make that mistake??????
I am on your side man!!!
Oh no no no I was refering with the quote to the joke you made as loving the joke, the rest of the remarks were toward the man who made the thread
Hey i need to know why my cigarette lighter and phone charger dont work
Its probably some hater that just made a fake profile for this thread and trying to make the car sound like its falling apart.. what a douche..

Anyway, the reason I want to get a Mustang V6 is because I need something to drive around while in University. I don't need a GT because I don't need the extra expense. (Gas, insurance, actual cost of car.) That's why I'm interested if it can be driven all year 'round, and the reliability factor. I will probably get a much better Mustang after university, and buy a corvette along with it.
I also own a 1975 Corvette Stingray.
Dude that has to be the DUMBEST STATEMENT EVER! A mustang cant be compared to a FORD GT! A FORD GT IS A SUPERCAR.. Hmm, Lets see, 23K vs 125k.. yeah very comparable. NOT. You say you dont want the GT for extra expenses, yet you say right after the university your going to buy a Mustang and a corvette.. thats alot more expenses then that one mustang gt you say you dont want..

haha, me and you seem like we would get along, im a die hard chevy hater, because they always have to think they are the best around, **** my dad owns a 79 Firebird which is going to be mine in a few years, i love the old muscle cars, but their new cars, well they cut too many corners..All the late model GM's we bought, didnt last past 30k.. That is why we switched to Ford..and our 01 F150 4 door, and 03 V6 both have 130k on the clocks.. my 06 GT and moms 07/08 Explorer has 22k and so far so good.. seems like fords got it down pat.

My v6 has been more reliable than I could ever hope for. the only problems I've run into are of my own doing and because of the dealership screwing up and not replacing the right part. IMO, Don't worry about the first 36K miles, that's Ford's problem. after that, you won't have any problem.
When I first got my car, it was pouring cats and dogs outside. I took my dad for a drive in the rain, trying to make Sally spin out. With the TCS on and new tires, not any movement from the back end.
the suggestion for the Pony Package is a great suggestion. If you get a stock one, you'll wish you got the Pony Package. Just a bit more solid driver, just a bit.
The car is very comfortable to drive around in every day.
Gas mileage is incredible no matter what the EPA estimate says. The '09 manual sixers are rated at 25mpg hwy. What an understatement!!! I get 26.5 mpg average with a lot of traffic and street driving. And some spirited driving here and there.
You won't be disappointed, unless you'll constantly be looking for something wrong to happen. Keep her maintained and she'll treat you right.

maybe some day..if the wifey will let me...
I was going to buy a new Kia Spectra to commute in until I realized I didn't fit...
I happened to see a clean used V6 Mustang on the lot, did some research on it, and discovered that they are fairly reliable, get decent mileage, and fit me like a glove. Plus, mine was $5k under book value...
One of my coworkers has the same car but with the Pony Package, and I can honestly say it is definately a higher grade of auto as far as interior aesthetics and creature comforts.
If my tuner does what it should I will have a 30+mpg car with 250hp and plenty of legroom, all in a very cool looking car with under 30k miles for $11k...

Bought my v6 because I thought it was more 'retro' than the v8, plus the difference in $$$$ was substantial and the Pony package gave me quite a few of the options I would have had with the GT (including GT suspension) as mentioned in previous posts.
With the $$$ I saved I've personalized the car (still have a list of other things to do) and enjoy it as a daily driver in all weather conditions.
Long term I don't believe you are going to have any issues with reliability as long as you properly maintain the car.
Don't know if this would factor into your decision making, but you should definitely be able to carry much more in the Mustang than the Vette.
Suggest you rent a Mustang v6 for a week and see what you think. I know, it won't have all the goodies from the Pony package, but hey, if you like the rental version you'll love the car in upgraded trim......good luck .

Man, what's with all the rudeness? Can't a guy like more than one brand without having people jump him? How about this: I LOVE Japanese cars. I've already been to the shop more for my '08 GT than for all my imports combined. There, go play with that.
About the original questions, I can't offer much since this is my first real Ford, and I haven't had it that long. I dunno if the 6 cylinder has the same stock tires as the GT, but I've found that the GT hydroplanes much easier than my previous, lighter-weight vehicles. I'm guessing it as to do with tread pattern and tire width... just something to keep in mind.
Yeah, the 90 vette has some time catch up to do vs. the new stang no doubt, but in its day, it was a great car. You should try driving a stang with some suspension work done to it, they will surprise you when compared to a stock GT.
That's next on my list. Almost done with the "look goods," then on to the "go fasters."
