Never try to carry a 64oz drink in your stang while driving a stick shift...
Yea, it's true. I'm an idiot. I still try to blame it on am/pm though. Their 64oz cups should fit in cupholders man!
Last friday, I decided to get a BIG drink during my lunch break. I cruise over to am/pm, fill up on 64 ounces of Mountain Dew (yikes!), head back over to work and just as I come to a stop just before work (I mean it's in my sights man, just on the other side of the light) around 50 ounces of Dew spills all over the interior of my car. I had hold of it man! It just wanted to keep going is all I can guess. So I do my best to clean up whatever I can with paper towels from work. Doesn't do me any good at all. After I get home, the rest of the night is spent cleaning up the carpet with auto upholstery cleaner, and the next day is spent using armor all wipes to clean any residue. I thought I was in the clear. Drove my car saturday, drove my car sunday, no problems so far. Then I get in my car this morning to go to work, push the rear defroster button, and it sticks, and slowly comes out. Not a good thing, dang. So my entire evening tonight was spent taking apart the center console in my car and figuring out how to get to those darn buttons clean. Figured it out, cleaned em (whole lot easier than I thought it would be, once I figured out how to clean them after seperating them from the electronics).
After all this, my advice to anyone with a mustang...
Never get a drink bigger than your cupholder can hold.
I know, I know, should be common sense right?

maybe some day..if the wifey will let me...
We've all been there.
A buddy of mine has a '99 F-150. Twice he had drinks spill out from the dash mounted cup holder because it didn't lock in place. So one day, I'm in the truck with him and needed somewhere to put my drink. Without a thought, I pull out the cup holder just like I do on my 2000 F-150. What he never realized, in the 6 years he had the truck, was that if you pull the cupholder out far enough, it snaps into a detent and locks. So he had been driving around for years, not using the cupholder properly. His wife still rags him about that one. And so do I.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

That's great!!!
I'll bet his mouth dropped completely to the ground!

A couple of my friends were headed to school awhile back and had just stopped to get some coffee. They left the gas station and headed up the block and just as they were reaching the intersection to go through (on their green light) the passenger saw a car coming in from the side, about to run a red light. He knew they were going to hit so he took his fresh cup of (nearly) boiling hot coffee and poured it directly in his lap on purpose.
The logic? Better to burn the hell out of your legs than your face.
Sorry about your spill.

Ah, the joys of the South and the wonderful fast-food joint we have called Sonic - their big cups are stepped and fit just fine into a smaller cup holder. Still gotta be careful with the shifter though or you can knock it out of the holder with your arm.
My poor daily-driver four-banger Ranger has one of the pull-out dual-size cupholder consoles. Neither size fits my travel mug, naturally. As it's not the Mustang I let it wear its carpet coffee stains with pride.

all will be well when you sell the car and the kid sees you a week later and tells you he just loves the car and how it is strange, but he loves that every once in awhile it smells like "Dew". Really cool and "refreshing" dude, all my friends like it.
About 2 months back I went to Sonic with my girlfriend. She got one of those java chiller things that has whipped cream on top. I was turned around backing out when I hear her say, "Don't look down." I of course looked and the entire whipped cream topping was in my leather shift boot. I was pretty pissed but didn't say much. We got back to her house and took out the shift boot and cleaned it with paper towels and leather cleaner. It came out but I was still pretty pissed. Now every time we go to sonic I ask her to be careful. I hope that never happens again.

I so worried about spilling my coffee, that i dont use the cupholder. I drive around holding my coffee in my right hand, reach over with the left hand to shift and steer with the right knee. I got it down to a science. If I can just figure out how talk on the phone too, then I'll be set (I cant do those ear phone thing-a-majigs)
I've had my car since January and usually just throw my spare change in the cupholder. The other day I cleaned it out to find that the back cupholder has a little cover deal that pulls out to make the back one deep. Now it makes holding bigger drinks a breeze. Guess you learn something new everyday.

I found that too last month after having My Mustang since February. The things that the dealers don't mention, eh?
