Well for all the trouble it seems the outcome isn't going to be too horrible! Hope it all works out ok! Maybe you can call CJ Pony parts and see about them taking back the hood scoop. Esdxplain that even after many hours of work on your part to make it useable it still was not acceptable. I know it's a long shot....but maybe worth a try.

I'm going to the body shop first and let them take a look at the scoop and the dents and see what they recommend...

I really do like the looks of the scoop on my car; even with the ripples around it and it still being black...

I at least know when to admit I'm in over my head and my bodywork Fu is weak...

I took the scoop off tonight and the ripples went away...

The mounting surface of the scoop was uneven which caused the sheet metal to ripple when the bolts were tightened.

No harm done to the hood, so I'm wondering if I should just return the scoop and find another one that will fit, or just keep tinkering with the one I have...

Might be time to deep-six that scoop and go with another plan.

The scoop is on now, and is painted blue.

It's not perfect and I'll eventually have a pro fix it. But for a commuter car, it's OK...

Yes, the scoop was rough, but someone with more patience and skill could make it perfect, so the outcome is half on the scoop and the other half on me...

I really do like the look it gives the car, though.

it doesnt look that bad considering how you say it came to you.

i would have sent it back if it were that bad. im sure it had to be a bad mold or damaged at the factory. something that crappy almost always gets replaced.

looks good on the car tho. good job
