ok so i put on my jlt CAI an dused my SCT X3 to tune. after a little hiccup with the idle (thanks to everyone for your help) i really haven't noticed much of a difference in performance. i was wondering what settings everyone else here used on their stangs. i'm eventually going to purchase a tune from bamachips or tillman but for now what type of configuration should i run. i'm trying to burn the regular gas out of my tank so i can upgrade to 93. i think i might take off my throttle body and clean it along with my MAF since i purchased the cleaner to fix the above mentioned problem.

Go with our 93 Street Race custom tune, and you'll never look back! Cleaning the throttle body is fine, but I think your issue is canned-tune related. Give me a call if you have absolutely any questions whatsoever or to place an order!
Thanks!

93 race tune with premium fuel? how does that effect how everything runs? or do you have to go get some octane booster or something?

Some parts of the country premium is 93 octane (like here in NJ) where other parts the octane rating only goes to 91. I would think Tillman would offer a 91 tune if 93 octane isn't available to you. Chris should be able to field that question for you though.
It runs great. And by using higher octane fuel, you get much better performance, cleaner emissions, and longer engine life in general.
You need to find out what the top-octane level is in your area, as mentioned above. See how readily available 93 Octane is, or 92 Octane. Usually Sunoco's have 93 or 92. Some places in the country, however, 91 Octane is all they have.
All you have to do is run a true mixture (completely drain old fuel 87 octane, for example) and completely refill with the highest grade (say 93 for arguments sake) and then load in the tune accordingly.
Give me a call if you have absolutely any other questions!

alright so i live out here in Albuquerque, where we have 90 octane fuel as our premium. i run the 91 tune, and assume the altitude is the difference in that 1 octane... soooo how DOES altitude effect the octane?

If your 91 tune is conservative, you wont have any problems. You'll never see enough spark to have problems. If they take it to the edge, though, you may experience timing-related detonation or pinging. Adaptive learning is a feature in the PCM's of the newer mustangs that will automatically adjust for your altitude and climate. Our mailorder tune would get you close enough that you don't have to worry about the altitude. If you need proof, look under our threads here. We had a post about how mail order tunes can really work with some results from a supercharged mailorder tune we did in Arizona. It was spot-on.
