Anyone given thought to a realistic electric conversion for our cars?
I know we'd all like to put it off but no matter how much we kick and scream the age of the gas engine is coming to a close. If the big 3 weren't already looking at hybrids and electrics, well Obama taking office is going to seal the deal. It'll certainly take a while yet but the gas companies aren't going to just disappear gracefully, once there are enough gas sipping hybrids on the road they'll raise their prices through the roof, they'll have to. And where does that leave us you may ask?
This company Ronaele certainly has an interesting product but at $80,000 the only customers they'll get are the super rich looking for a conversation piece.
Keeping in mind again that there's no immediate danger here, have any of you mad scientists out there thought about crossing a Mustang with a vacuum cleaner in your backyard? A little theorizing could be interesting.

There's nothing to detail under the hood. I would be completely lost...

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
Actually it looks like an aluminum case with 3 pc cooling fans on it. A forklift motor? Who the hell wants a forklift motor powered sports car, that can only go 125 miles before it has to sit for 3 1/2 hours? I would be more inclined to buy a hydrogen system before I'd buy that crap!

Thats pretty sweet! 1000ft/lbs of torque from a stand still is very impressive! But on the flip side, we loose that sweet exhaust note I suppose someday, we'll be buying speakers to mimic the sound of a v8

Didn't say it would happen next week but it is happening. Ford, Dodge, and GM all have green cars rolling off the line with more to come shortly. Electric cars will be among us in the next few years and sooner than that we'll have a growing number of hybrids on the road, even trucks. As a higher percentage of new vehicles become ultra fuel-efficient it's going to put pressure on the rest of us. Sure gas stations will be around for decades to come but with most of their customers only filling up once a month what do you think it'll cost to fill up a Mustang?
