Hi All, I drive a silver 05 Mustang V6 and when I bought it, the previous owner or dealership had curbed it pretty badly and there was a little thin piece of plastic hanging off of it.. recently when changing the oil, we removed it because it looked awful and I realized that was a bad idea.. it seems that is what was holding the lower front grill in.
It wasn't such an issue at the time because the front license plate covered it and it wasn't really going anywhere but I moved to another state and they only require rear plates so I had to remove the front plate and now i'm worried that the grill is going to fly off.
So my question to you Mustang experts is, is there anything I can buy to resecure the grill or do I need to buy an entire new lower grill? Can I do this myself or do I need to take it to a body shop and have them do it?
welcome to the forums. that thin plastic pc under the bumper doesnt hold the lower grill in, nor does the lic plate. it has plastic tabs that hook in just like the grill. if the plastic tabs are broken, you could use a dab of epoxy at each anchor point, or pick up a new lower, ive heard around 20.00. if you have screw holes from your old plate, you could get a custom plate like ford racing or something cool for the frt. if you crawl under with a screw driver you can pry the tabs to remove it. if you go new, it just snaps in and you could do it real easy

Any idea where I can get the new lower grill? I have checked online but only found like custom ones, and I'm completely content with the stock one.. Maybe the dealership?
If I can't find one, I think i'll just use the epoxy like you suggested..
thats a pretty good site there Mr.U. looks like its 12.99. i was wondering cause my factory bumper grill had some broken clips, that i didnt find out till i went to replace mine with a custom one. the body shop had glued a few broken ones on mine and i had a very hard time getting that thing off. i kept my factory grills in case i ever want to put them back on. after more thought, if the tabs are broke, and you just want to re-install it, epoxy is too strong. just some dabs of trim silicone would be better, and let it dry good.
