Which MACs are you talking about? I have the Boom Tubes and you will notice a huge difference in sound, well worth it!

i wanna get the Mac axel back but i have a few questions
Is it comparable to 40 series flows with that hollow sound?
And are they noyicebly louder than stock becasue i dont wanna spend 300 and not notice a diff
I also plan on getting a prochamber when i have the funds
I asked MAC tech support this question the other day about being chambered or straignt through and this was the reply. tech@macperformance.com
Could you tell me if these mufflers are chambered or
straight through ?
Hi,
The mufflers that we offer are neither, they are a flow path muffler.
The exhaust gases have paths that flow through to make the performance and
the sound.

P.S. They sound great with the prochamber.
lol typical answer they have to be something special but if youre looking for that hollow sound you cant beat flowmaster theyve just been at it for too long lol.
imo go with borla, expensive but its a great sound
Exhaust sound and loudness is all relative to the owner. One might like it loud, while the other likes it mild. Some like the straight pipe sound, some like the chambered or as Mac would say, "flow though muffler" sound. Maybe somebody should create an application in Facebook where you enter your personality traits and it will come up with the right muffler for you.
For me, I like to be able to carry a conversation without shouting in a convertible while driving with top up. And when we're done talking, the exhaust fills in the dead air. I don't like open pipe type of sound. I like a low pitched, deep chambered rumble. No reason, just my preference. It's the opposite on bikes. I like loud sportbike sound over big cruiser sound. I also like a real racy sound when you put a load on the engine or when revving it high on idle. So after endless hours of research, I found my muffler... the Mac "flow through" mufflers. I also like the fact they sound like the previous 2v engine Mustangs. Close but not exactly the same. Darn it! I'm close to swapping the 2v 4.6 from the previous model just for the sound . I turn green with envy whenever one goes by .

I have the MAC (non boomtube) axlebacks and love them. They have an aggressive tone that is noticably louder than stock but not annoying.
Once they burned in they sounded even better. There is the typical MAC drone at around 2k but you can shift up or down and get out of it. Honestly I don't even notice it any more.

+1000 on tone, post burn in sound, and drone.
I have no drone at 2000 rpm on 5th gear going 75 mph with a 3.31 gear. 65 mph drones. 70 is very little. Must be just my overall setup which makes it different.

Yah, I have the stock 3.55's in my 06GT. Some may say I've just gotten used to the drone but I honestly was never annoyed by it. I love hearing the exhaust at WOT and the MACs just give me that "hey he's not running a stock setup but it doesn't sound stupid loud" syndrome.

I LOVE my MACs. I can see how some people get annoyed by the drone but it sounds so good!!!!
they are defiantly noticeably louder, but what you hear from the inside is really quiet compared to the outside. i can hear my exhaust echo as i drive at WOT. they are frekin awesome!! i find my self not listening to music because i love listening to the exhaust note keke. and they have a very nice low rumble that ive never heard on a v6 before. if you watch vids, turn your subwoofer about 3/4 of the way up and that is how they sound
Which MACs are you talking about? I have the Boom Tubes and you will notice a huge difference in sound, well worth it!
Boom Tubes all the way in my opinion. no burn in time, just instant "hell yeah!". i had my stang still jacked up when i first turned it on and let me tell you, i dont think ive ever come that close to saying ****-it to my tools and just driving away hahaha. i had the flowmaster american thunders before the boom tubes and man, they are soooo much easyer to install. literaly took me 10 min. from jacking it up to tools put away (i kinda rushed puttin the tools away after hearing them though )
