Default Mustang GT mufflers without the pop?

After installing my JBA long tubes and shorty H-pipe, I'm looking at different mufflers now to replace the Flows I've had for awhile. They have like 18,000-20,000 miles on them, not a lot for mufflers, but I'm looking for something that doesn't do as much of the "pop/farting" sound on deceleration. And now, when I crank the throttle when I'm driving the higher RPM's make it sound like there's a lot of rattling coming from the back of the car so I'm wondering if maybe the mufflers are croaking anyway.

So I'm looking for recommendations on good mufflers with a nice deep growl that don't do the popping most of us are familiar with.

My stocks POP, and I love it. Is the Popping something that is generally frowned upon? What causes the POP?

The H-pipe setup in the exhaust causes the pop, the aftermarket mufflers or resonators just make it louder and more noticeable. Only way to get around it is to go to an X-pipe setup or remove the H-pipe, but you'll wind up with either a raspy sound or reduced power, respectively.

My GTA's "crackle" when the engine is cold and I shift and I kind of like it. I wish it did it all the time.

I think popping and crackling is caused by unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust.

I thought x-pipes gave more power.... But I have the Pypes Muffler Delete's and they pop a whole lot on deceleration. I don't mind it but at times it gets on my nervous a little.

No way around it. An engine is going to crackle and make noise on deceleration. It's just how loud our exhaust is that lets you notice it more or less. My Borlas with stock manifolds and H pipe pop and crackle noticeably. But it's a deep and subtle and I like it. My last car had an offroad X pipe and it sounds like machine gun fire at times.

I don't mind the sound in little bits, sometimes it just sounds to me like the engine is having a conniption fit or something. Like the engine is unsure or tachycardic something.
I prefer the deeper rumble to the raspy sound so that's why I've avoided X-pipes. Sometimes my car sounds like a stock car with the setup now which is cool, there's just this crackling/popping, rattling sound on high revs that I'm trying to find out if it's the mufflers or just the exhaust combo in general.

And I'm highly considering some Borla's, or the other Ford racing pair that's out there on AM.

No pop here with my GTA's. With my JBA longtubes and cats the car is LOUD! I'll try to post an audio clip later.

Ok, I finally found an analogy to describe how disgusting that popping sound is.
It sounds like a dragon coughing up a hairball. Like it's roaring, and then the furball (or scaleball) gets stuck in its throat. Seriously, it sounds like ass. It's metallic and tinny and sounds like some flap or valve in the engine just broke loose and is flopping around like a wet noodle. Ick.

And nearly every sound clip I've heard for these cars, no matter what the mufflers, all do this. WHY. Is it just Mustangs? Do other cars do this as much?

I've had a couple of vehicles that did this. The first was a Silverado with Flowmasters and the 5.3L V8. It sounded fantastic, but it definitely "popped" or "burbled" going downhill.

The 2006 GT we have now has SLP Loudmouths, and I have noticed it has a little higher pitch than the Chevy did.

Actually, I kind of figured that with the young kids and there little farty riceburner exhausts, the tuners thought that was what the public wanted today. I hate farty riceburners, just for the record.

It also seems like the smaller ci engines have a higher pitch to the exhaust, and are more "farty" and less "burbley." Technical terms, there.

Yes, I have also noticed that smaller engine displacements sound higher pitched. Which is why I argued in one of my other threads, that the newer mustangs sound "wimpier" compared to Corvettes, GTO's, Challengers etc that have much bigger displacements. The Mustangs can sound cool, but not nearly have the really deep chest warping bass that those 5.7-6.2 Liter monsters.

And I love your "technical terms" I use them too, sometimes it's the best way to describe something

Part of the problem is the rear placement of the mufflers.
