Default Shaker 1000 Vs. 500

Kinda wished I was able to compare the Shaker 1000 to the Shaker 500. But for the $1,200 option price, there wasn't any question. The Shaker 500 with 500W of power I felt at the time of ordering was sufficient to meet my needs. I recently sold a '01 Grand Prix with a Bose Sound System. The sound quality of that Bose system blows away the Shaker 500 so I got to wonder how the Shaker 1000 compares to the Bose? I bought my Grand Prix new and I remember the Bose Sound System being about a $400 upgrade (in '01). So does the Shaker 1000 blow away the 500? Has any one been able to actually listen to the two systems?

I have the 1000 and listened to the 500 in a test car I drove.I thought the 500 was ok so I figured I would get the car with the 1000 figuring it had to be way better...I was right!..There is no comparison between the two!.. In my scheme of things I am definately glad I spent the extra $$ to get the 1000.I have installed many stereo systems in the past as I used to work for Al & eds autosounds back in the day and I can honestly say this is the best stock system I have heard to date as far as clarity, crispness and bass response.Sure, there is always something better out there that could be installed and I could do that, but I am more than satisfied with the shaker 1000.The only thing I will probably do is upgrade the rear deck 5x7's in the back. They should be replaced with something of better quality IMO

I don't know why, but Ford systems never really sound good. I have the Mach460 in my Cobra and I"m not impressed. I am not all that picky either.

Take that $1200 and walk into any good Auto Sound dealer and you will be amazed at what you get. Go aftermarket and have the dealer wrap the extra cost into the loan. Just make sure you know who the audio dealer the Ford dealer will send you too before agreeing.
