How long it takes to make an '05 Mustang An earlier post wanted to know how long it took to put the new '05 Mustang together. It takes just under 60 hours for a Mustang to go from body framing to completion. As most of us may know, the Mustang is being produced at the new 2 million SQ FT factory - AutoAlliance International in Flat Rock, MI.
The Mustang is being produced along side the new front-wheel drive Mazda 6 in the same assembly line. This will also be the same plant that the Mustang Cobra and other specialty models will eventually be made. At full capacity, the plant produces 260,000 and 300,000 Mustang and Mazda 6 models annually on two shifts emplying approximately 3,500 workers. At peak production, 74 cars per hour, roll off the assembly line.
Information was taken from a new book by Matt DeLorenzo called "MUSTANG, A new Breed of Pony Car 2005". I bought the book from Borders. The book covers the development of the new car. It's pretty cool to read and it has alot of neat pictures.
