Default GT vert on X-Plan possible or not?

Well I have tried numerous Texas (where I am...Houston actually), Florida, Michigan, California dealers and no one is willing to part with their '05 GT verts at X-Plan. Hell, some even went so far as to inform me that Ford has instructed them not to sell GTs at X-Plan.

Ok, fine, so then I try and order an '06 from my local dealer and all is fine until she calls back and says her GM is not alloweing them to sell even '06 GTs on X-Plan. WTF? Ford is pushing employees to give the pin codes away now but they are not accepted.

Anyone got any advice? I would love to email Bill Ford Jr. if I knew his email or whoever is in charge of sales some VP perhaps. I don't understand why they spend millions on ads only to push away customers.

My dealer in Michigan has accepted my x-plan for a 06 GT. Writing Ford would not do you any good since it's up to the dealer if they want to accept them or not.

For what it is worth, my dealer in Toronto excepted X plan without hesitation.

I wil try to explain this as I understand it. It will be looong. I think what got this whole issue started was when Ford offered 4 additional X-Plans to employees and a bonus of up to $1000 if they used all 8 X-Plans available. I found out today when I read the info on the Ford A-Plan web site that Mustang was specifically exclued from this offer. Employess always did and still get (I think) 4 "real" X-Plans which require a PIN.
A-Plan is for active Ford employees.
Z-Plan is for Ford retirees (me). The price is the same as A-Plan.
X-Plan is sometimes refered to as the Friends and Neighbors Program. It offers less of a discount than A/Z-Plans. Dealers can opt NOT to participate.
Info below is from the Ford employee website.

· Four vehicles may be purchased or leased, on the A/Z Plan, each calendar year by you and your eligible family members.

· Four vehicles may be purchased or leased, on the X Plan, each calendar year by your friends or neighbors.

· Vehicles must be kept in the purchaser's name and possession for at least six months.

· A/Z Plan price includes dealer cost, destination & delivery, finance charges and an administrative fee.

· X Plan prices is within 1% of dealer invoice price.

· Each time you wish to purchase or lease a vehicle you will need to get a new Personal Identification number (PIN).

· Vehicles must be purchased or leased from dealers franchised for the sold product.

I checked the Ford employee A-X-Z Plan website tonight. Ford announced that the special X-Plan addition of 4 extra vehicles per employee, which included a cash bonus to the employee, is cancelled as of July 15. This is because of the new incentive of A-Plan pricing to everyone (excluding Mustang, naturally). The original offer of 4 additional X-Plans per employee with the Friends and Neighbors Plan was for 2005 vehicles only and also excluded Mustangs. Still, each Ford employee still has 4 "real" X-Plans, but the disclaimer says the dealer may choose not to participate and it only specifies current model year vehicles, but it does NOT exclude Mustang that I can see. It's my understanding that my dealer in Indianapolis will honor X-Plan for 2005 model year vehicles in inventory and will take orders for 2006 models with X-Plan.
I will try to copy the info from the Ford A/X/Z-Plan web site. This is what I call the "real, original" X-Plan.

Who's Eligible?

Customers are eligible for the X-Plan if they were identified and sponsored, by a Ford Motor Company employee or retiree, before visiting a dealership.

What Is Available?

· Current model and prior model year vehicles sold in the United States (including Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, and Mazda*), equipped with any regular production optional equipment, may be purchased or leased each calendar year. Vans and light trucks are available only through E/F-350 Series (see Vehicles & Pricing section for the complete list of vehicles available).

*Eligible "A/X/Z" Plan buyers may purchase Mazda Products under the Mazda Purchase ("S") Plan at participating Mazda dealerships.

· New prior model year vehicles may be purchased or leased from dealer stock only up to the date announced by the Company (usually March 31 of the current year).

· Vehicles may be ordered from production or may be selected from the inventory of the dealership, if the dealer agrees. Dealers are not required to participate, but if they do, they must be an authorized Ford Motor Company dealer for the product sold and agree to abide by the New Vehicle Purchase Plan guidelines set forth in this document. (For example, Ford dealers may not sell Mercury products and recreational products must be purchased through a Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealership, not a recreational dealer).

· Optional equipment installed by the dealership and after-market services provided by the dealership are not covered under the New Vehicle Purchase Plan. The dealership may charge any agreed-upon price for these items. See the Red Carpet Lease Option supplement at the end of this document for details of the dealer-installed optional equipment rules for Red Carpet Leases. Dealer-installed equipment or services, such as undercoating, must be individually listed and priced separately on the buyer's order and the New Vehicle Purchase Plan/Red Carpet Lease Option Customer/Dealer Agreement and Pricing Sheet*.

· Each product purchased or leased under the Red Carpet Lease Option will be covered by the same warranty and policy as those offered to retail customers.

*See the "FORMS" Section for a copy of this form. This form is not provided for Jaguar or Land Rover vehicles.

What Isn't?

· Current excluded vehicles include Ford GT, F-450 through F-750 Super Duty, E-450, E-550 and Aston Martin vehicles. This list of excluded vehicles is subject to change.

· Escape Hybrid is not available under the X-Plan.

· Used vehicles, driver training vehicles and dealer demonstrator units with over 2,000 miles (If over 250, but under 2,000 miles, dealer must fill-out an Exception Request Form. Contact your regional office for more details).

· Products sold under any other Company plan.

· Prior year models purchased or leased after the date announced by the Company (usually March 31 of the current year).

Mazda Products – available under the Mazda Purchase ("S") Plan for eligible "A/Z" Plan salaried employees and retirees and Hertz hourly employees. UAW represented employees, retirees, surviving spouses and their family members are not eligible to purchase or lease any non-UAW produced Mazda products

I don't know, being a new member, if discussing cost is allowed, but I will do it anyhow and someone can tell me if I am out of line. I don't know of any rule from Ford that bans discussing A-Plan pricing. I will make a short story long:
I bought my black GT premium coupe on Nov. 1. I just happened to be at the dealer in the service area when they drove it off the truck and it was beautiful! In the past I had bought a 94 GT convert and a 96 GT convert new, but this car just made them look plain-Jane. I had been looking the day before at Freestyles and Escapes, figuring to buy the Freestyle for me and the Escape for my wife. I immediately grabbed my salesman and told him if they would sell the Mustang A-Plan price I would sign the papers that day. All thoughts about the Freestyle were gone. My salesman had to check with the owner for permission to sell A-Plan as it was their first 2005 GT and also the first one in Indianapolis I think. In the meantime they put it on the floor and marked it up $2500 above sticker, which made the total $31,620. This is a GT Premium with Auto, Shaker 1000, Active anti-theft, wheel locking kit, 17" wheels and rear spoiler. The owner said since I was a valued return customer (I have bought a bunch of cars from them) I could have it A-Plan -- provided I also bought the Escape. I was nuts about the car so I went ahead and did it. Best car I ever bought.
So MSRP was $29,120 - what a steal for a car like this!
A-Plan was $25,723 or about $3400 less that MSRP, so much of a steal I just couldn't turn it down.

Several months ago I checked out the X-Plan price for a very similar car for a friend and it ran about $800-$1000 more than A-Plan. Still, that is a considerable saving over MSRP. So my reasoning is if you can find a dealer to honor X-Plan for Mustang, and a Ford friend to get you a X-Plan PIN if the "real, original" X-Plan is still alive for a 2005 or 2006 model, you can't go wrong. If anyone is in the Indianapolis area and is interested, I can see about hooking you up with my dealer.

Oh, yeah - one month after I bought the cars I made a sudden decison to retire. After 28 years at Ford they finally made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I've been very fortunate that Ford provided a very good living and allowed me to afford many Ford vehicles, most good and some just plain terrible. The payments are high on a salaried retirees pay, but this car is worth it.

In Houston:
Go see Charles Culver at Central Ford on Westheimer near 610. He will hook you up with an X-plan. If you have already gone there, go back and talk to Charles.

Default Thanks guys...

I did call the Houston dealer back (Bay Area Ford in Clear Lake, TX) and ask for the owner and the girl said to first talk to her manager who already said no. I told her what's the point if he already told you no but she persisted. So I sent an e-mail off to her to route to him. I guess we'll see.

And yeah I do have a real X-Plan pin or rather I will have one. I have a friend who works at Ford and has agreed to hook me up with a pin.

I have not tried Central Ford but will.

And yeah, please hook me up with your Indianapolis dealer please.

As for calling up Ford, I just meant that say why do they insist on making these programs to attract buyers if they don't really exist in reality. They only serve to push us away and I would like to think that a senior exec or even the man himself Bill Ford would like to know why they will be losing customers in the long run and avoid it by correcting their mistake while they still can.

tc
PS: Ideally the plan is to get a black GT convertible sooner rather than later so '05 would be nice...

Default Beware of central ford in houston!

I had not received my 05 vert yet, so I was driving my 95 vert when the brakes went out while I was visiting houston (about 100 miles from my home). I had it towed to Central ford, and the people were all very attentive and smiling- found out later it's while the knife is in your back.. they actually "accidentally" double charged me for a master cylinder (using two different codes), and when I called them on it they apologized & removed the charges. IN the meantime, nice salesman took me to see all the MODs they have on their ponies ( seems like about $15.00 of embroidery becomes about $1500.00 value when on a car), and got me going about a light bar. The accessories manager happily showed me a light bar for 950$ (plus installation labor!!)- later on these posts I was given a link to the SAME FREAKING PAGE they showed me (hiding the prices) and saw that I can buy that light bar for about $450!!! Good luck if you can get x-plan from them, but beware about any non-warranty work or extras you buy from them.
I got my GT vert (see signature) on X-plan, but only by dealer screw up and lots of hell-raising when they tried to back out.. I do have a friend who got her GT Coupe on X-plan no questions asked in Dallas. NOT Aikman, try the other large ones like Skyline. Good luck to you, I would have paid MSRP had I driven a vert first and not been given an option.. worth every penny, worth the 6.5 months wait as well - especially since (knock wood) it seems that most of the problems have worked out except an occasional skip in the cd's but who the heck listens to tunes when the sweet throaty growl of acceleration in the pony is such a rush...

As i read the offer ,the person that is giving you the X-Plan pin number will get upto $1000 if the person can gets everyone to buy the car till Mid Sept.As i read it that if you order a car under X-Plan and it comes in Dec,you will still get the X-Plan pricing but the person that gave you the X-Plan Pin is out of luck. But I guess ford does not care if you are on a waiting list for a 2006 Stang because its another car that they will sell.Johnny
