Can they rip off the Mustang look any more? I mean come on...the headlights...the interior...even the Mustang name plate on the floor under the door. Not a bad looking car, but that's probably because of the Mustang highlights. Even if they put freakin' 500HP in that thing, it'll never be as popular or as loved as our Stangs!
Rip off the Mustang?? The only rip off is that it's also a retro look. Other than that it looks just like a 1970 Challenger. Almost exactly.
Wow, that 's a mean looking car!! The third picture makes me drool.
...but ONLY the third pic. The rest looks like ass. I dunno. I agree it's not a rip off of the 'stang just because its "retro", what it is a rip off of is the original Challenger. I mean, c'mon! You said it yourself! It looks almost identical. Go for the retro boys, but add some modern in there too!
Course this is not a production model. Have to see what they do to before they release it, if they ever release it.
I like it a lot. The interior seems a little awkward- bare bones dash design, with luxo-racer seats. I'd bet if they do it, it will get the 5.7 Hemi first, and the 6.1 will be a limited thing. If they stay away from their stupid a$$ "displacement on demand" thing, it might be a damn nice car.
would I buy that over a Mustang? no way, but I'd love to test drive one. They'll never get the pure feeling that ford nailed in our ponies.

I agree, it looks a bit too exact. But at least it will be modern-ized technically...I would hope. Plus the one we'd all want will be $40,000 at least.
it's cool. I especially like the way the rear quarter kicks up, reminicent of original muscle cars. I wish ford had taken that cue from the past. Maybe on future models, if they want to change the look just a little bit. Anyways, I'd buy a challenger if the price is right.

It's okay but nothing in looks compared to the Mustang.
But are we starting to see the rebirth of the Muscle Car era?

you all know this would be a moot point if the mustang had just come out with the damn 5.4L engine!!! and a 6 speed tranny!!! the mustang does in my opinion look better but still how cool would it be to hav both hmmm. maybe i could sell my wifes 06 when i send her on a long trip! that way icould hav both hmmmm.. ponderponderponder!!!lol vynle
Well...at NAIAS we will as well see the Camaro concept...
I believe that having more products (Mustang-Challenger-Camaro) in the market of retro-looking cars can only be good: more choices for potential buyers.
I personally think that Dodge has done a great job with this Challenger: she looks very similar to the original inside & outside, with a few changes to make it a modern(ish) car filled with 21st century tech.
Oh and by the way, this is not a thread comparing the Mustang to the Challenger (can you guys relax ? No one is attacking the Mustang ! Geez.), it's just to show what (hopefully) will be soon coming out from DCX...
I love my Mustang but being a fan of old Mopar's, I can only say that this Challenger looks mighty fine, IMHO.

Bought a Caravan in '95 (when kids were younger) and the transmission blew up after 4 years and only 55K miles. Will NEVER buy another Dodge product again. (Note: During that same stretch, had a Ford Escort that gave me ZERO problems.) Plus...I dunno, but every time I hear the word "Challenger" I immediately think of the space shuttle, and that is not good juju...
Nice, clever post.
Now check this out:
about 10 years ago I ate a bad burrito, it gave me some bad stomac ache, I spent a night on the crapper expelling some nasty stuff out my bottom end: this means burrito's are the scourge of the earth, as far as food is concerned. I will never eat a burrito in my life again.
Does this make sense to you ? To me no and you know why ? Sometimes in life you get a lemon and you just deal with it.
What in God's name has got to do the fact that you bought a Dodge Caravan ten years ago and after 4 years you had a bad problem with its tranny with the Challenger ? Let me answer to you: none, zero, nada, zip, zilch.
Many people had problems with their brand spanking new Mustangs...just check the TSB list you can find anywhere and you will see.
Now, with your line of thinking, are we supposed to think that the Mustang is a piece of crap ? I don't think so, probably 99 % of the people in here and other Mustang forums love their cars (I surely do), no matter what their problems with it were.
Here some news: cars are not perfect, they have problems. And again, what do you do in the case any problems happens ? You deal with it. And if, in your case 10 years later, decide to say that something (= in this case, the Challenger) is crappy because you had a problem with another vehicle from that brand, in my book you can't be that bright of a person.
