In Northern CA, there is a show sponsored by a local Mustang club (Golden Hills Mustang Club) in Suisun, CA on May 20, 2006, then another one in Fairfield, CA on June 25. These may not be huge shows, but expected to have a couple hundred cars at each.
Another exciting Carlisle All-Ford Nationals will be held on June 2-4, 2006. This show is action-packed from beginning to end, with something for everyone in the family. Witness a reunion between the Lawman, the Boss 429 Mustang that toured Vietnam in 1970 when it is reunited with the original owner, racing legend, Al Eckstrand. The current owner, Bill Goldberg, and Ford’s Chief Engineer, Hau Thai-Tang. TV personality Stacey David, star of the popular “Trucks’” show will be there, along with the Bronco he restored on the show. His visit is part of the All-Ford Nationals Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Ford Bronco. Drag racing legend Hubert (the “Georgia Shaker”) Platt will be at the show to meet his fans. The show will also include a special tribute and display of Ford Police vehicles that were used during many years of law enforcement. The 1966-67 427 Fairlanes and Comets will be highlighted at the show. See the one-and-only “Rocket Car,” a 1964 Ford Galaxie, formerly owned by tobacco heir, Zachary Reynolds. The show will also include the latest in concept vehicles from the Ford Motor Company, unique exhibits, seminars and other exciting events.
Carlisle Events is proud to sponsor the first-ever reunion between drag racing legend Al Eckstrand, the 429 Boss Mustang named “The Lawman” that he toured in Vietnam, the current owner of The Lawman, Bill Goldberg, and Ford’s Advanced Product Creation and SVT Director, Hau Thai-Tang. As a young lad in Vietnam in 1970, Hau Thai-Tang first saw The Lawman when Al Eckstrand took it to Vietnam as part of a “Good-will Tour.” Hau Thai-Tang was so impressed with the Mustang that he vowed if he ever had the opportunity, he would like to work at Ford Motor Company someday. He is now in charge of development of the Mustang program at Ford. Hau Thai-Tang has never met Al Eckstrand and this human interest story will unfold at the All-Ford Nationals. The original account concerning this story was recounted on NBC Nightly News on August 1, 2005.
Stacey David, star of the popular “Trucks’” show, will be in attendance this year to answer questions and meet his many fans. On special display will be his personal Bronco, named “Crazy Horse,” which he restored on his show.
The All-Ford Nationals will also feature the 40th Anniversary of the Ford Bronco. There will be many examples of these workhorses on display. Some of the featured vehicles will include concourse-restorations, an alcohol-fuelie Bronco and a variety of highly-modified purpose-built Broncos.
For the first time, the All-Ford Nationals will have a Rock-Crawl Demonstration in the middle of all the action. Some of the Ford Broncos at the show will demonstrate their versatility on the newly-installed Rock Course.
Legendary Ford drag racer and NHRA Hall of Famer Hubert (the “Georgia Shaker”) Platt will be at the show. Hubert is eager to meet his many fans and talk about his days as a drag racer.
A special 2005 Mustang, built as a tribute to Hubert Platt, will be in the Invitational Display. See this one-of-a-kind Mustang, which was totally rebuilt from the ground up. It has many unique features, including “heads-up” instrumentation. This vehicle is street and emissions legal, while putting out 850 horsepower at the rear wheels. The Mustang, built by Pure Power Motorsports, will be at South Mountain Dragway Friday evening for exhibits and timed runs.
A special display of 1966-67 427 Fairlanes and Comets will greet all the visitors. These vehicles were designed and built for only one purpose – to win at the drag strip. See the vehicles that dominated the dragway for years.
The one-and-only Rocket Car will be debuted at this year’s All-Ford Nationals. This rare and totally original 1964 Galaxie was specially ordered and built at the request of the original owner, tobacco heir Zachary Reynolds. The vehicle has a Holmes and Moody race-prepped motor. More importantly, it has a rocket motor attached to the rear axle, with the fuel tanks placed in the trunk. This rocket system was fired once and only once by Zachary Reynolds, who swore he would never do that again.
Ford Motor Company will bring four of their latest concept vehicles and latest models to the All-Ford Nationals. The exciting Shelby GT 500 Mustang will be a part of the special reunion planned for the event. The Shelby GT 500 is the most powerful Mustang ever built, with a 475 horsepower super-charged V8, a six-speed manual transmission, race-tuned suspension and four piston Brembo brakes. This Mustang, a collaboration between Carroll Shelby and the Ford Special Vehicle Team, will carry the unmistakable Cobra logo and Shelby nameplate. The 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac will be at the show.
To help celebrate 40 years of the Bronco, the Ford Bronco Concept Vehicle will also pay tribute. While reminding fans of the original Bronco, the new concept has a simple, raw shape, unadorned interior but a hardy chassis that makes it ideal for work or recreation.
The Ford 250 Super Chief Concept will take truck leadership to a new level. It is the world’s first vehicle with Tri-Flex Fueling, enabling the super-charged V10 to run 500 miles between fill-ups on hydrogen, E85 ethanol or gasoline.
Come and see Alma Gates, known as The Boom Box Granny, and her Ford Bronco equipped with a 20,000-watt sound system. The 69-year-old Gates is known for her success with her retired Bronco at the Sound Pressure Level competition. However, her new Bronco, which she debuted at the 2005 Spring Break Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida, took first place in Sound Quality and also won Best of Show. Alma’s Bronco features JBL Pro speakers mounted under each door, six W15Gti 15-inch subwoofers, JBL component system speakers, seven amplifiers, a DVD player, and two television monitors. Also featured on the Bronco is a PA system and 7.1 surround playback. Alma took first place at Tuner Jam, second place at the IASCA Bass Boxing competition, and first place at the MECA SQ competition in the Master class. Alma Gates is certainly not your average Granny!
Exciting seminars, designed for the restoration-minded, will include many topics of interest for everyone. The show will also include the ever-popular Beauty Contest and Burn-out Contest.
