Default Acknowledging other Mustang drivers...

Maybe this is unique to my area but I find that when I encounter other Mustang owners on the road they will not even glance over and give the 'thumbs up' or any sign of recognition to me or my Mustang. It's weird because on these forums there is a sense that we all belong to somewhat of a community but this isn't the feeling I get out on the roads. I decided to post this now because I just got home and was just driving next to an S197 legend lime V6 and the driver wouldn't even glance in my direction or give any recognition. However, I did see him look out of the corner of his eye at my car. But this isn't the first time.

Also, if I'm out with my dad in the porsche 90% of the time other porsche drivers will give some sort of acknowledgement in the form of a thumbs up or a nod etc etc.. So what is with the mustang owners?

Do you guys acknowledge others mustang drivers on the road or do you snub em?

Not really a big deal, but I'm just curious as to what others have to say.

I dont know if you just saw my last post over here: http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...490#post451490

But I see the same out on the road if the other mustang is stock it almost guarentees no response(goes for women too). Me, if i am passing slowly in the opposite direction I'll rev it up. If I'm going pretty fast 25+ I'll lift my fingers on my steering wheel or if passing in the same direction I'll thumbs up.

lol yea.. actually your post in the other thread just reminded me to make this thread, I was planning to a while ago but for some reason it wasn't working when I tried to make a new thread

hmm.. Now that you mention it I guess you're right, the V6 guys will usually nvr acknowledge, except for this old dude once in a 96 V6, I stopped next to him and he was pretty much drooling over my car and gave the :thumbsup , so that was pretty cool.. but for the most part I have found Mustang drivers to be assholes out on the road and not even look over even when driving right next to them

My guess is the Mustang drivers that do not acknowledge other stang drivers are rental car drivers...no sense of bond. I wave to all Stang drivers. heck even in my MGB, I give the nodd or wave to other British car drivers. Like I said, must be rental car drivers!!!!!

People in my area don't wave or anything either. The only people that do a "wave" are jeep wrangler people, I know because my mom and girlfriend both own one so I see it with them. I do always wave to other stangers in hopes to start a revolution.

the V6 mustang is the best selling car Ford has. of all those people that have the V6 mustang, they are probably not into cars like most GT owners and thus will not give a nod to another stang.

now, I get GT nods all the time. I even get other Redfire GT's try to catch up to me in traffic just to give a wave. Those are the people that have a true appreciation for performance cars. even some V6'ers.

I get nothing from other Stang drivers. I feel like an ass now w/ all the looks I've given out. I like the looks I get from hot looking older women driving Benz's when I'm driving my E320 Benz. Ohhhh yaaaaaa!!!!

i think its got alot to do with where you live.i travel alot in my lifted f250.if im in the southeast, odds are ill get a thumbs up or something.but if you travel north you get nothing.maybe its just me,but generally people up north are very snooty and unfriendly.and i think if someone in a v6 doesnt give you any recognition, then either they are jealous,or dont realize what they are driving.is it true that only fat girls drive v6 mustangs?because thats the case in the southeast.

Over the last year I have driven my Stang in or through NY, NJ, CT, down to Washington D.C. and back to NY, and now in Washington state. My wife is tired of hearing me whine when another Stang driver won't wave back to me! There are some that will, but on the road I have not passed or come upon any pre-S197's who will acknowledge me. Maybe they feel that we are not part of the same family? Also, I agree with some of the previous posts that said that perhaps many Stang owners don't understand the camaraderie of other fellow Stang owners, and they don't fully realize the great history of this American Icon. Or maybe they are watching the road, and pass by so quickly that they don't see them. That happened to me just last night, and I only recognized the 05-06 Mustang after it was too late.

There are a lot fewer Porsches on the road than Mustangs. And I have gotten more acknowledgement from other Mustang owners when I drive the Mustang than I get from other Porsche drivers when I'm in my 951 or 914. Unless you have a 911, you don't get much recognition from other Porsche owners.

The thing is, there are just too many Mustangs on the road to acknowledge all of them. I'd be honking/waving/etc 100 times in a normal day if I acknowledged every other Mustang driver.

I do acknowledge classics though, regardless of whether they're Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, etc because I enjoy the old iron.
