Hey, I found a guy selling a rebuilt 429 SCJ (on a stand and never fired up...) for 2700.00.
My questions are:
1) Can it fit in the 06 ?
2) What would it cost to fit it/ upgrade tranny (if necessary)
3) is 2700.00 a good price? (seems very good, but I have to admit I know very little about what is a good price)
Thanks

2700 is a steal for that motor if it is in fact a SCJ. I have no idea if it will fit into an 06 with little to no fabrication. Anything is possible if you're willing to put the time and effort and money into it though. That would definitely be one bad ass ride if it could be pulled off.

Yeah, I thought the price sounded good. Then I started dreaming of a "modern" Boss 429. I might have to find someone to go look at it and see if it is "run-able" condition.
I would love to put it in the new ride, but sadly, I would definately be cash limited....

The add is very brief, just states that it is a rebuilt 429 on an engine stand and it has never been fired....2700.00
I was hoping to find someone who would be able to tell me if it could fit and how much it would take to do it.

It should fit with out any problems. The 427/428 and 429 will fit in a 67/68/69 but the 4.6 will not because it is too big. The shock towers have to be removed on the earlier Mustangs to fit the modular engine.
The problem you run into is can you make the 429 meet the pollution requirements for a 2006 model Mustang. I bet you cant.
Personally I would take that money and put a super charger on your 4.6 and not mess up the car like heavially modifying it to fit the 429.
Go to Florida ( orange groves) they used to use 426 Hemi's to power big fans in the hot summer days to cool the oranges, from what I understand you can get them cheep...heck might as well Put the Hemi in it. The SCJ belongs in the classic's.

I haven't decided anything yet, but I still want to go look at it. It may be toasted and crap for all I know. Anybody know if the Tranny would work with the 429, or would that have to be replaced too.?

Exterior engine oil cooler (S/B block off plate and adapter where oil filter usually mounts.)
Holley 780 Dual Feed Vacuum secondaries carb.
Mallory Dual point distributor
Aluminum finned valve covers
All of these things could have been scrapped long ago though...I had a 1970 1/2 Falcon with a 429 SCJ Drag Pak car once. With a 4 speed toploader, velvet touch clutch, and a 4:30 detroit locker you could dump the clutch at 60mph and light the rears up for 100 yards.
Ahhh the good 'ol days.
I'll ttry to go look at it tonight or sometime this weekend.
Anyone know if it will fit to my current tranny (5 spd)?

I wouldn't count on the Tremec fitting this block without serious Bell housing and possible input shaft modifications. Originally these blocks were fitted with the Toploader and the C6. The Toploader is by far a better tranny than the 3650. I think the 429 is narrow enough to fit between the shock towers, but there may be a length issue, it does after all have 65% more displacement.
Hey Scott?......Saw a guy today at Union Center in a 68 GT fastback. Car was not restored but did look all original. We need to hunt that dude down....buy the car for a song.....and stick that 429 in it. then we'd have us a REAL car.
