Default Put my 06 GT in a local car show!

I put my 06 Mustang GT in a local car show (Newark Auto Fest) here in Delaware. Sunday was for 1980 and newer cars. This is the first car show that I've entered and I'll have to say it was a lot of fun.

I spent a good amount of time Saturday and early Sunday cleaning the car.

I got a trophy for "Top 40".

After having fun - I'm looking forward to entering into another car show.

Attached are some pictures.

Good job man....now you're hooked. It doesn't take much. I have to agree, I've been to several shows where I didn't win anything, but had a great time anyway. The people at the shows are such a great crowd. I've had people with cars worth twice as much as mine, come up and compliment my car or ask questions. And they're more than happy to answer questions in return. The whole Mustang culture is one of the things that really attracted me to start showing. Keep it up.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

I must agree. I placed 2nd in my first show. I was only expecting to get tips and ideas and a lot sunshine (okay it was supposed to rain that day). I was thrilled when I came in 2nd. I was highly flattered when people would stop dead in their tracks and mention how nice of a car I have. I got a chuckle out of the fact the four Mustang owners next to me voted for my car instead of their own. I always have a good time at the car shows, there just seems to be a strong esprirt de corps among Mustang (and car lovers) owners. Congrats on the win.

I stick the prop rod through the center hook. That way the hood is a little below eye level when you are standing in front of the car. My coupe has the Red Line struts which are the best solution for show cars. You'll find that you take home trophys more often than you think but don't do shows just for the hardware. They are great ways to scope out future mods without paying for them yourself.

Thanks for all the positive replies.

I should have been a little more clear in my first post…..the trophy was for having one of the top forty cars – 1st place went to a Toyota Celica (some kind of ¼ mile track racing thing - it was pretty wild looking).

Sorry if I misled anyone into thinking that I got a 1st place trophy. I’m still thrilled to have left with a trophy!

To answer nghtrnnr’s questions:
·The show was sponsored/supported by the local town that I live in (Newark, DE)
·Registration was $15.00 (I also got a free t-shirt)
·The show was for all types of cars and trucks (I was next to a 1993 Dodge Viper and my dad’s 2006 Mustang GT) – there were some cars that it was obvious someone had invested a lot of $ and others were a work in progress
·The voting was done by those who registered for the show – you had to pick your top ten – so it was really just what the crowd favored

There were some really cool cars at the show. There were only three 05+ Mustangs (mine, my dad’s, and a really good looking Roush Mustang) that I saw.

It was fun just talking with people, asking questions, and answering questions.

There is a local Mustang club here in DE so I’m going to try to get up with them next time they get together.
