Default Found out something interesting at the dealership today

Hey everyone. Today I went to the local dealership to pick up some touch up paint (having paint chips on a black car are one of the worst things in the world to have). Got up to the desk and asked for it. Got the guy who worked there who wasn't "the sharpest tool in the shed". And of course, got the last bottle that was cracked around the top. After that I remembered I needed to get some clips/bolts for the one panel in the trunk (took them off while installing the sequential tailights, half of them popped off and flew across the garage so I couldn't find them). Asked for them and it took the guy atleast 10 minutes to find them. He went out with me to make sure they were the right ones. Here's the interesting part: He went to put them on, and turns out that the one bolt/clip for the rear trunk panel was different then the production peices. It's the one that when you open the trunk, look straight down and there's the panel, and then the bolts/clips at the top of the panel at the ends of the panel is what I'm talking about. The new ones are not as tight as the production ones and look way different, so if you lose your original production bolts/clips, you're going to have a fun time trying to keep that panel on unless you glue it or something because you can't order the original production bolts/clips. Just passing this on to all fellow mustangers...

And off topic, but before I left the dealership I asked if they were getting any gt500s in soon. And they said they're getting 2 in, one which was already paid for. And the guy who bought it is coming all the way to PA from Cali. Only thing I know about the car is the guy who bought it wants all the badges stripped off of it. I'll try to get pics if I get my camera fixed.

I found perfect replacment 'screws' at a local auto paint store. That is also where I get my touch up paint. You may want to check around to see if any place like that around you has the 'screws'.

And just a little info it is normally cheaper to get touchup paint from them also.

I just ran a 1/2 inch bolt with a galvanized (becuase it's on the outside) nut with a couple of washers and it holds just fine.

I discovered the same thing when I recently discovered that there were 5 or 6 clips missing from my hood liner. I found out that the replacement ones are not exactly the same size or color as the originals, so I obught enought ot replace all of the (uniformity) and a few extra.
