Why do people hate mustangs? I just don't get it. Owners of Camaro's, Firebird's, imports(SRT-4s, Evo's, STI's, Supra's, Ricers), ....they all seem to have general negative dislike towards us. I never really understood why. When I check out other forums to see what those guys are up to, comments like 'stupid mustangs' and 'Rustangs' seem to pop up on all boards.
What gives....what did we ever do?

I agree, same old rivalry between Ford vs. Chevy and Ford vs. Dodge...but as for the imports, the Mustang is all they can go after. The present Camaro died off, the new Camaro is not here yet, the new Challenger is not here, the present Charger is a differnt kind of car (class of vehicle) and the exotics (Vettes, Vipes, Ferraris, etc) are simply god-like compared to them, so their only hope is to go after the one car that is here now, somewhat near their price range, and closer to their horsepower (I grant we still win, just we are a tad bit closer than the exotics). So to make themselves feel better, they go after number one.
If you owned some piece of crap Camaro and saw a beautiful GT come blowing by you and your girlfriend went "Ohhhhh Baby" you'd hate Mustangs too.
CHICO13 is right! I'm slightly over 40, yet I still have younger women on and off the road ooohhing and aaahhing over my car. So for every one that says something to me, there must be at least 20 more that are thinking it! I had one such younger female tell me last week right in front of her "Chevy truck man" dad she was dying for either one of S197 Mustangs! Then just yesterday I followed her dad from home from a meeting we had together, and although his souped-up diesel truck was fast, it would have been no match even for my stock Mustang GT if we had found open road. He tried to pull away several times, but I stuck to him like glue! I wonder if he will tell his daughter about that? Ha ha.

Funny you guys mentioned this phenomenon. I am a former Vette asnd Fbody owner, and the rivalry has been there for years...its all in fun though...i never hated mustangs, but i use to run into a lot of idiots on the road that wanted to race my Vette just because they knew it was fast (procharged C5). When i would refuse a street race, they would get all stupid and mad. Well, now that I own a mustang, i get challenged by C5's and Fbodys and you name it.....but its all in fun...i know what my car can do and i have an attitue that there is always gonna be someone faster...but i know my car has the "EYEBALL" and they are just "HATIN".
On the other side, I seem to get resentment from guys with SN95's....for some reason they hate S197s too. Guys with SN95s are always saying is that your first mustang and yada yada.. I tell them no, I use to own a 86 fox body, and the ironic thing is "PushRod guys" dont like "Modular guys". So if this is true, then 5.0 pushrod guys should get along with LT1, LS1, LS2, guys....right?
Imports guys are always the younger risky guys that will do anything for a race, and risk everyone's life around you. these are the guys i just ignore.....even though i like import cars, the guys driving them are mostly young risk takers.
As for brand loyalty, I really dont have it...i will buy any car from any make as long as its the best product for me.

Imports hate us because they have something to prove... Camaros are just keeping the old rivalry alive... and everyone else probably just fits into an idiot catagory. We are a target because, whether or not it's always the case, we are perceived as extremely fast cars and people want to show they have a set by running us.
It just makes me laugh. Recently I was driving my 66 (200 cid 80 some odd hp beast) and was stopped at a light when some punk in a little yippy-dog car revs and rips away form the light very wrecklessly. At the next light he looks over (after I arrived) and laughs and says, "not so tough are ya..." then speeds off again. I just laughed because it was just asenine. The following day I was in my 06 and caught him at the very same light and asked him how tough he though I was today. He got a sheepish look on his face and then wouldn't look at me and when the light turned green I gave a little smoke show and then took off.
It's all perception.
I for one will never stop driving Stangs... they're just too damn fun.

Keep in mind that a lot of people posting to these forums are pretending to be someone. You get a lot of 14 year olds reading and posting. They usually parrot others opinions that often are flame bait.

Its been like that forever people are jealous and think we suck...but its cool ricers are just lame they try using there moded imports to beat us and when they dont they talk...thats what most people are but wutever its funny smoking other cars we cant help the fact that mustangs are better then most cars...
