This guy at work that bought a pimp @$$ black 06 GT after talking to me about my GT just told me that he'll sell his brand new 40 series Flowmasters w/ 4" Chrome tips for $100. Apparently, his wife hated how loud it was. I totally want to do this, but I'm saving up for moving into my apartment in a month and a half.
If I bought these, how hard is it to install? I think I saw somewhere that you release the bolt, remove the hook (or something), and then replace w/ Flowmasters and tighten up. What do you guys think?
Go for it. No matter what, its still a bargain. You can get them, save them until you have the money to install them and enjoy it either way...or you can just pop em on now...cant give you much help as to how easy or hard it is but I am also looking into a new exhaust...
Good deal. Just unbolt the 4 hangers, loosen the clamps and slide the old ones off. Repeat steps in reverse to install. Top hangers (above the mufflers) will take some time (and a little knuckle skin) to tighten. If you have any difficulty lining up with the cutouts, you can loosen the clamps and adjust slightly. If still off, loosen the band clamp where the over-axle pipe meets the H and rotate slightly.

Took me like 5 minutes to get those bolts on the top off...what a bit**

Yeah. I'll see what I can do. I literally have no money right now, but I might be able to talk someone into handing them over. Best part about it is that they're brand new. He took them off a while back and had 50 series installed, atleast that's what he told me. I know money isn't a big deal to him, as he still has his nice ass Porchse.
Hardest part is getting the old mufflers off. sometimes they can get a little rusty onto the midpipes.
I had a hard time getting my JBAs *on*. Man I was about to come apart but as usual beer had the answer. Ahhh beer. Is there anything it can't do?
Anyway, I had a hell of a time holding the muffler up and getting it to slip over the pipe. If I could have fit another couple of people under there, with me, the job would have gone easier. I hear some folks saying "it was so easy! I didn't even have to jack up the car!"
I say "Ooooohhhh my baloney has a first name!"
Now that I have that song lodged in the esophagus of your mind....
There is no way to get to the H pipe connection to loosen it without jacking the car. In all, it took about 45 minutes to finish the job of swapping out the mufflers.

Yeah, there's definitely no getting to that H without putting the rear on jackstands.
I love to eat it every day
And if you ask me "Why?" I'll say...
Dang you JB! That song is addictive...
Seriously, this is good stuff to know. I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of Pypes for Luci and, coming off what for me was a major victory two weeks ago in installing the JLT by meself, was feeling like The Big Mo was on my side for another DIY win.
Now, I'm not so sure...but if I give it a shot, these comments are a great scouting report!
Thanks JB, STL, and everybody else too...

So Z, where you been?? How are you liking the CAI and 93 tune? big difference! FYI, I just ordered another axleback (yeah, I've got issues), so I'll have a set of Flowmasters (2 months old) available if you're looking.
Guys I have a set of brand new, still in the box and plastic 40 series FM's. I bought them and was going to put them on but I decided to go with the Bassani's. I will also let mine go for $100. If anyone is intrested PM me. Thanks.
The install is as mentioned above... easy, even for somebody not used to tools, you gotta have a few though...
I guess it could be done without lifting up the car but why bother?
I strongly recomend taking all four hangers off the chassis as I have learned (about 10 swaps) that is the easiest way over all. Yes it takes some time and effort to get your wrench and hand up there but compaired to trying to mess with it all the other way... well worth it!!
