I recently purchased a magnetic blackout panel for my GT. The day after I put it on we had a snowstorm, so the car sat in the garage for a little over a week until the roads were clear and dry again. When I went to drive the car after 9 days in the garage the battery was completely dead. I couldn't open the doors with the remote, there were no dashboard lights that even came on when I turned the key in the ignition. I jump started the car and things seem okay.
I have never had a problem with the battery before, and I only drove the car on nice days last winter...there were lots of times that the car would sit for 2 weeks without being started, and it always started fine.
My question is....does anyone know if it is possible that somehow the magnetic blackout panel was responsible for draining the battery? The battery is grounded to the frame, and the magnetic panel is also attached to the frame.
Am I out to lunch here, and was the dead battery a week after I put on the blackout panel a coincidence? I have taken the magnetic panel off for the winter, but I can't help wondering...................

yep, coincidence. I've never heard of one of our customers having trouble from magnetic signs on their vehicles, and we've sold thousands.
however, make sure to take it off once every couple of weeks and clean underneath. Sand will work it's way under and if not cleaned, sandpaper the paint. Also, I've seen those panels stick like glue to a car's finish if not moved occaisionally. It helps to wax the back of the magnetic. No, really.

It had to be sunspots or maybe moon phases Seriously, these cars are notorious for losing a charge after sitting. Mine was dead the day I bought it (not a very good sign).

Did you turn off your shaker prior to shutting off the car??
I had the same problems with the battery as my car is not a daily driver.
I read on this forum that the shaker amp draws down power if the unit is not physically turned off.
Once I started turning off the radio prior to shutting off the car the dead battery issues went away.
For those who want to know what the blackout panel looks like, there is a thread titled "Tailend Blackout" last updated about a week ago. There are pictures there. It was through this thread that I first saw and purchased my blackout panel. By the way, it looks great.
Thanks everyone for the responses. I will make sure the Shaker is turned off, and if I have the problem again I will get the active anti-theft alarm checked.
One other interesting thing.....when I hooked up the jumper cables, positive wires to positive posts on the batteries, negative cable on the boosting car's negative terminal, and other negative cable to the frame of the Mustang......the Mustang's alarm started going off, and did not stop until I got it started. As soon as the engine was running the alarm stopped. I double checked the owners manual and I am sure that I connected the jumper cables correctly, but it made me jump when I touched the frame with the negative cable (with my head under the hood) and the alarm went off........Scared the hell out of me actually........
