*Yawn* Looks like a red KR. Or, is this now the KR? No, now there's the Shelby Hertz, the Shelby GT500, the Shelby GT 500KR and the Shelby Super Snake... not to mention that cheap blue Shelby thing... looks like a bunch of stickers and a body kit. The worst thing is, these are all limited-edition Mustangs. It appears to me that Shelby has decided to use his name for all its worth. The KR has not even come out, yet! And the Super Snake is the same computer rendering of the KR, but painted red. I could've done that on my Paint program. Seems like they are so focused on creating lots of limited editions. Next thing out: Ford's version of the Eleanor, mineral grey, Shelby Stripes, limited edition... What if they knocked off the SS and made the KR the 600 - 725 hp beast it should've been, instead of the smaller pulley, new hood, and Ford Powerpack that Ford stuck on it. I'm saying that there are a lot of die-hard (like me) Ford fans out there... and Ford has turned out somewhat disappointing. It's probably too much to ask, but something worthy of the title Super Snake should at least have a different motor other than the 5.4L... maybe a 6.0L 4V (stroker of the 5.4L)?

From what I have read, the Super Snake is the upcoming Shelby GT500KR. IMHO, I think it has good looks.
The super snake is a package you will be able to add to the all ready over priced GT 500. If they are going to release it it will be before the KR comes out.

I'm growing tired of just about everything Shelby at this point.
I am confused, does shelby own mustang or ford own mustang. I know, i know, it appears shelby owns ford mustangs. Why does ford need shelby anyway, all his penny stock company does is put out limited vehicles that benefit no one else but the greedy dealers taking advantage of MSRP + big $$$$ over. Shelby stock price is in the pennies, which means wall street sees no growth, or confidence.
Ford being in trouble just like GM, Chrysler, etc.. are not giving what we want. I must say, at least GM produces the vette and powerful GTO but failed on GTO looks.
Ford needs to take control and say, we are going to build a (i'll say a shelby clone) and produce enough for all, and reap the benefits. I always question this, why does Ford need shelby at all. Then can do exactly what this penny stock company does and supply the people.
When the 05 concept car was introduced, it was all shelby look. Then when it hit production, it was changed to what the GT looks like now, but the concept came out in 07 under shelby.
Like back in the 70's when you went to order a car, you had a choice of 3 to 5 different engines from all manufacturers, with a choice of 2bbl, 4bbl etc. So if you happen to have an engine that was least ordered, well that was you collectible and made it worth more at a regular price.
just my 3 cents
Ford needs to wake up andbring in profits to surive.

I gotta say that I love the look of the GT500KR and the super snake, but I am too aggravated at the price gouging going on with the GT500. As much as I want one, I would never pay over sticker for ANY car.
So, as excited as I might get by the thought of a production Mustang that makes up to 725HP, I realize that I'll probably never get the opportunity to own one, so in the end...I could care less about it.
Why won't Ford REALLY make some 'Bold Moves' and go back to the way it used to be, like MakeMyStang pointed out, and order different drivetrain options for a GT? That might really get my blood flowing to know I could order a GT with a 5.4L or 6.0L, with or without a supercharger, 5 or 6 speed transmission, different rear axle ratios, etc...
So I am guessing that if GM does build the Camaro, it will be faster than the stock Mustang and we still have no car that competes with the 'vette.

The Mustang is the new Beanie Baby.
I can see it now...
"This one came with no headrests! It's worth $800,000!!"
No sense in crying about it. I love the (edit: Shelby) car, but I can afford what I have, so I have what I have, and am dang happy with it.

The dealer wanted $20K over retail for a Shelby when I went in to get one! I have purchased 13 cars from them, one of them an 03 Cobra and I am only 35 years old. I said I would be happy to pay retail, they said No.
So I got a loaded GT on A plan for something like $26K and I have maybe $9,000 in mods. Thats a $35K car that makes 450 at the wheels, looks cool, has big brakes and goes around corners and still drives like a pussycat. It looks like I still have $7K to go before I am even at a GT500's sticker price, and $27K to go for what they were asking.
I wonder how cool my car would be with another $7K in it....how about another $27K?
Damn cool I think

Wow, I'm glad I'm getting pretty much the same feelings among everyone (so far). And I guess I'm not the only one who is confused about the Shelby thing... are they another tuner? The lines are even more blurry than Saleen's relationship with Ford. No, the KR is pretty good... but maybe it should've been released as the '08 Shelby model... under the same price. I feel like Ford is really taking advantage of their loyal fans. I was looking into a Shelby, but seeing that they wanted $75K for it... and the dealer told me I was lucky to find such a price. I wonder what the value of these cars will be, 30 years from now? I don't think people will be rushing to buy my '05... it was definately not the reason to why I purchased my car, but as for the Shelby...
As far as the GTO, MakeMyStang, I feel that GM failed so hard with that thing. The name alone had so much potential... GM could've picked ANY model year to reinterpret... and they chose to grab an Australian Holden and drop in a 5.7L. Looks like a Grand Am. How inspiring to every GTO fan/previous owner, etc. Releasing the '99 GTO would've done better; GM would've beaten Ford to the retro thing. On a side note, it seems they are taking forever to make that Camaro. So much talk with GM and Dodge; I knew at least two members of my family living in this house who were once waiting to buy that car... by the time it comes out, Mustang would've evolved into something even better. There's no Pony Car War... just a bunch of companies calculating whether or not it would be feasible to release their model... so they can also capitalize and release their special editions of their models, taking advantage of their fans. I guess it's not Ford or GM's problem. Every company does it. It's a formula they've got down pat.
I apologize for the rant; just my $.02!
... and another thing: these GT500s should be all over the tracks... not the FR500s. I'm not sure if they comply to Grand-Am, SCCA, etc, but it's just wrong not to!

Shelby can kiss my ASS!! The wife said I can get a new car next year. "didn't you want that new cobra?".......yeah, but no one screws me over that bad.....I'll sink $10k into my 05 GT and smoke a stock 500! If Ford thought more like Walmart they would be on top, produce the models the customer wants, for a set price, and the orders will roll in! Screw building cars for the select rich boys! Sell em by the bunches and make a fair profit one each car. After all, a Mustang is not a exotic sports car, it's one of the working man's cars. Did anyone else get that lame mustang survey they (Ford) sent by e-mail where they asked if you would buy a front wheel drive, twin turbo v-6? This pisses me off, almost makes me want a new Challenger (of course they'll rape everyone over too!).

Shelby watered down his own product and the american public is still willing to pay top dollar for it(thinking it's as limited/rare as the 67 GT500). I dunno who is more stupid.

Me and a buddy got into a huge arguement about this. I love my GT and wouldn't rather have anything else (maybe an IS350, but that's another story), but Ford is dropping the ball on this. All of these Shelby cars look nice and all, but what about the average Joe? If I wanted to drop $50-60K+ sticker for a car, I would have bought a Vette. Rare? I can drop an extra 30K+ into my car and I guarantee it will be one of a kind. I got a Stang because it is a Stang. It is a symbol. People stop and look at you when you go down the street. It's not so much who's car is the fastest, but Ford is making the Mustang the red-headed stepchild that no one wants (other than us). We have nothing to compete with the 'Vette, and that Camaro looks fierce.
Shelby is kinda overstepping his boundaries to say the least.
