Hey guys. I'm getting ready to get my silver horse racing flush louvers painted and installed. I just got my windows tinted and love that black color against the Legend Lime. This makes me wonder ... should I get my louvers painted in the body color, or all black? Maybe get the outisde painted legend lime and the slanted slats painted black? Would that be really expensive to do?
I say all black, it gives a good contrast to the body color although painting them the body color wouldn't be bad either. Me personally, like the contrast.

Here is my view after having gone through 5 sets of the SHR louvers.
1) Pay the extra monies to have them done by a GREAT painter!
2)Having them two toned would be very hard to do,especially because of the "edge" youre going to have
3)They are VERY hard to paint and have them look perfect, dont expect it,if it happens then be very happy and give koodos to your painter!
4) Have them installed professionally, mine were $35 a side by a friend who only does glass replacement
5) Make SURE youre clear on painting instructions, make sure they use the cut outs that Marcello sent with them correctly.
I have seen them on three cars inclduing mine and mine look the best as far as quality of paint job, spend the extra and dont short cut to save a few dollars. Youre idea of the two toned paint sounds good but it would really be a job to get them right. The inside corners and edges are a beach to get right.Whatever you choose as far as paint colors will be OK and they reallyy do add a look to the car that is far better than any other louver out there.Good Luck on the venture.Brent
They need to be body colored. Your window tint makes all your glass look somewhat black. If you paint the SHR flush louvers black then that window area won't be much different from what it looks like now, and the louvers won't be very noticeable. And the few people who do notice them will think they came in black and you didn't bother having them painted to match the car. Besides, they are meant to recall the retro look of the louvers on the '67 and '68 Mustang fastbacks, which were body colored.

Paint them the body color. Put a trim on them from Scott Drake and they will stand out. Then buy an aluminum grille and cut and paste the cut-outs inside the car to add to the retro look. Then get some soft LED lights and place them above the inside of the windows. Keep in mind that the picture of the car at night is a long exposure, so the lights seem a lot brighter than they are. Have fun!!
