Default Thinking about a custom exhaust for my Mustang GT

Right now on my car i have the pypes violator axle backs but i dont really liek how they look. I have them with the pypes off road h. I dont really dislike the way they sound but in a month or so im going to get over axle pipes to get full exhaust past the headers. I was thinking about just taking the axle backs off and using the pipe before the muffler starts and making my own slp version of the loudmouths by welding on some long magnaflow tips... I do not want it to be rediculously loud so i thought i would use the pypes mufflers and weld those somewhere before the overaxles.. would this be alright to do or would it sound like crap??

JetBlack had a custom fabricated rolled-tip exhaust made... Sounds great. The Pypes won't fit under the car. There isn't enough ground clearance and they'd hit the driveshaft. Get a set of dynomax race cans for that. I have mine welded into the overaxle pipes.

Resonators and race mufflers are essentially the same thing. They are straight thru double walled perforated core mufflers. Dynomax Ultra Flo Welded Mufflers - summitracing.com

I think its a great idea. I am going that route in the next couple weeks. My buddy had these welded in and they sound awesome. Moroso Spiral Flow Racing Mufflers: MOR-94050 - summitracing.com

I think they are pretty much the same as the Dynomax's.

Similar, but the Dynomax mufflers are just straight on through. One chamber with a perforated inner wall.

I also have resonators welded in on the overaxle pipes. With the long tube headers and an O/R H it was just way too loud. The resonators brought it down just enough.

+1 on the race cans. I'm looking to move mine though. They are quieting down the Magnaflows just too much. I should have tried them with the SLP's before I sold them, but whatever.

Since you still have your cats, I think it would sound good if you replaced the Magnaflows with just straight pipes, and keep your resonators. That would liven it up a bit.

I thought about that, but I was so bent on selling the SLP's, that I never really had a chance to think about it. I'm going to have to change the H and over-axle pipes anyway, so I think I'll get the sound I want after it's all said and done.
