2007 Mustang GT vert... Anyone disabled peripheral things when lowering the top?
I have a convertible. In order to put down or up the top the car has to be completely stopped and all four windows have to be all the way down. Has anyone disabled this "feature"? If so please let me know how.
Actually, you don't have to be stopped, but you can't be moving more than 2-3 MPH. As for the windows going down, that is important to release stress on the windows and top. Besides, you don't want to have the top moving when you're driving...
If you want a quicker up/down, get the 1 touch covertible top button from web electric. It drops the windows and top at the same time, without you having to hold the button the entire time. Great little mod!

As a many times over convertible owner, I have found one will put those windows down anyway and if a little windy, raise them. Putting the top down while moving can stress the bows and possibly disengage the top from the bows.
We both know if the feature is disengage someone will be driving along, put the top down, everything will blow out of the car, with traffic moving the guy behind will not be able to see if you were to stop and well, it creates a mess. Maybe just leave the thing down and put the windows up and down.
...Maybe just leave the thing down and put the windows up and down....
That would work...
(Also a many times over convertible owner) The car goes through some ridiculous steps before the top starts to move.
As mentioned, "it's important to release stress on the windows and top" Sure but when putting the top down you first physically unlatch it. Stress released. Having to wait for the windows to go completely down serves no purpose. The car has the sense to slightly lower the windows (maybe a quarter inch) when opening and closing the doors yet they must be completely within the doors before the top moves....
All this nanny electronic stuff really irks me, especially when it's implemented so poorly. (how did convertibles survive before they had all these electronics to protect them I'll never know)
That said, if there is anyone that has done this I'd definitely like to hear from you.

Thanks for the heads up. I'd still rather just disable it but this may be the next best thing. Either way, the one touch down feature for the rear windows is a plus.
Nice vert Lou btw.....I think the chrome bullets would be a great mod for your vert, those would look sweet on your car....
I disagree about the chrome bullets. Chrome wheels look their best on darker colored cars. And your current wheels accent your interior color very nicely. Chrome isn't always better.
But I do like the idea of that one touch button thingy....
I checked and they also offer a one-touch turn signal that looks cool. Momentarily click it once and it will blink 2-8 times (programmable). My last car came standard with that. It was handy when changing lanes.

Thanks. The silver bullets look sharp on your car.
I'm partial to the argent bullets. My car originally came with the optional bright cast aluminum wheels. I traded a set of bullet wheels from my 2000 for these. Love 'em.
Heh BlueLou, maybe it's nice to slow down a bid. You wouldn't want to go down the Garden State and accidently put the top down, that would be a disaster.

If accidentally putting the top down while cruising down the Parkway was really one of my concerns then it's probably time for me to consider hanging up the keys.
personally i like the ritual of raising and lowering the top. it makes me feel all special, and savor the moment. And i love the one touch window down and i am impressed that they are one touch window up. Even my father's '05 eddie bauer expedition does not come with that. I made him jelous
get the webelectric products one touch top down module and the top AND the windows go down together by just pressing the button once (no more holding it) . i have it on mine and love it!
