Question 2008 Mustang GT... Cold Air Intake question

I'm new to the forums and I already have a question.

I have a 2008 GT and want to add a Cold air intake vs the stock intake that is there.

I'm just starting to learn what all this means and need some advise. I am reading a lot about the tuner, etc...
I need to know what the differenec is between buying the parts from C&S...hose piipes etc...
buying the intake system at $100 more and getting the intake system w the tuner combo.

I'll get pics and my profile updated this week I hope!

Buy the system all together. The poular CAI's are JLT, C&L, TI, etc. and probably the most popular tuner is the SCT. You can get one from one of the respected dealers (Brenspeed, Steeda, Bamachips, etc.) or directly from JLT. It doesn't matter. This is an awesome mod and you will notice it immediately.

Welcome to the boards as well. Do some searches on this and you should find all the info you will ever need.

CAI and tune really cleans up the throttle lag and pretty much puts the car at the mercy of your foot. You won't believe the improvement. I'll be trying 93 octane tune soon... (drools)

Short, sweet, and right to the point.

Welcome to the forum. I highly recommend the C&L Racer with a SCT Xcal 2. I have a great 93 tune from Tillman Speed with mine.
When you buy a package setup, your CAI is a fully designed system. There are a few other systems out there.
Check out the vendor and dealer listing of who is good and who to stay away form.

There are a lot of good intakes out there. The top ones are all about the same performance-wise. Have fun and welcome aboard!

Look around the site and you'll find plenty of discussion on CAIs.

I installed a C&L cold-air intake on my 2007 GT/CS. This intake can be had as a package which includes the Diablo-Sport Predator programmer, which I would recommend. With any after market cold-air intake, the engine's computer should be tuned for the additional airflow so that you get the most from the upgrade. Also, without the retuning your air-fuel mixture may be too lean, especially with the throttle wide open. The Diablo-Sport Predator also allows tuning your engine for premium fuel, which I would recommend. You can also use it as a diagnostic tool for trouble shooting engine problems.

If you plan on putting a blower on your car at some point then I wouldn't waste money on an intake and tuner like I did. If not then the C&L Racer intake with SCT XCAL2 or 3 tune is definately worth the money.

Wish I had a dollar for every mod I've wasted or redone along the way... I'd have a lot more mod money

Default 2008 cold ait intake

I to bought a 2008 mustang gt. When I ordered the car i also bought the cold air flow pkg. Now its jan 4 and I still don't have it installed because of the environmental agency. You see in order for it to be installled they computer has to be recalulated with certain codes the environmental agency releases to ford racing which is where the parts come from but are installed by the dealer. If you buy them elsewhere you may void your warranty and or mess up your engine for state inspection. With the pkg from ford racing also comes with a new tuned exhaust sytem and high performance oil filter . I called ford racing and they said the codes were to be released sometime in mid jan. good luck with your new pony. joe
