I just called steeda canada and got a price on changing my rear gears. Installed its going to be $800 plus tax canadian. I was a little suprised with that price. So now my questions are is that to much to spend on gears and since its going to be so much i wanna make sure i pick the right ones. I already had a post saying that i drive mostly highway but want some kick off the line, so it was recomended that i either get 3:73 or 3:90. I was just wondering if the 3:73 would not make much of a difference for $800
question? is car auto or manual? if auto, the 3.73's will be bout right. i have an auto and added the 3.73's and it made a worthy difference without raising the rpm's to badly. I do lots of highway driving to and from work, so if I had gone 4.10's, i think it would have bee a bit to much. even with the heavier vert, the 3.73's will light up the tires and I get great acceleration, so no reservations about the choice. $800, for me is a little steep. I had the FRPP 3.73's put in and speedshop charged me just over $5oo for gears, seal pack and Royal Purple Gear Oil. but for Canada, $800 might be norm. Whatever route you take on the gears, you'll like the change.
3.73's would be good for you. if you even think about going 3.90's you might as well go 4.10's. I drive mostly highways around here so i picked them 3.73.

From what i have heard and read about gears.. I have an auto GT.. and im not getting 4.10s.. i have been told.. with the Twin Screw Blower im going to buy it will have way too much spin off the line.. so everybody has told me go for 3.73's..

Matt, the 3.73s aren't going to make a lot of difference over 3.55s, but you're throwing gas mileage into the mix so it's difficult to give you advice. When I had my 4.10s installed, at first I though they weren't enough. Then I got on the highway and I thought, yeah this will do.
The more I drove them in the city, the more I liked them, but I wouldn't like them if I drove a lot of highway. All I can tell you if you are worried about gas mileage on the freeway, then you want a lower ratio than 4.10. Either the 3.73s or 3.90s should fit want you want to do.
Please let us know if you do go 3.90s and if you like them since not a lot of guys have that ratio since it's not a FRPP product (it's Motive).
I believe that FRPP sells two different types of gear sets now in the various ratios (A or B) and one of those sets is rebranded Motive anyway so I wouldn't be scared of buying Motive. Any gear whine you get is from an improper install.

Reason: forgot the word "don't"
My car is manual and i am not really concered about gas milage i just dont want to have the engine reving high on the highway all the time but i dont drive too fast maybe 120 km/h
Well, I will probably be going 3.73's based on my experience with my v6. It was a very nice balance of city and highway driveability. The price should be cheaper. Shop around a little before doing it.

Stock as can be, just trying to reverse the damage the previous owner caused.

I do not know how far you are from the Detroit area, but just had mine done for $500.00 complete, including frpp gear.Alternativeauto.com.

No more Nitrous all motor now.Don't ask.
I did a lot of research before I purchased my gears. From what I read and was told. The norm across the board was. 3.73 gears for manual and 4.10 for automatics. Those ratios gave the best performance for a daily driver. Unless you plan to add a supercharger then go with a lower ratio than 4.10 for your automatic. I had 3.73's installed at the dealer and it cost me $600 including the oil and a bearing change.
What would be my advantages of gettin 3.73's..? Just better off the line for the track/street?? Is it that big of a difference? I mean i do really want to get 3.73's but im curious on how diff it would even feel..
If i bought just the blower.. and kept stock gears would i be able to tell the difference between having gears or keeping the stocks?
