Default Looking at buying a new mustang

Hi Folks...first post.

I am looking at buying a new mustang...not sure what I want but I will be this year....probably new...and from the Ford dealership down here in the Valley...I have been driving old cars british for awhile (28+ years) and now it is time for something new..and I really like the new mustangs...they remind me of growing up...

We will be testing various cobfigurations as soon as the snow goes...which may be for a bit this year

Two questions...

. is there anything I should look out for or avoid ?
. is there any must have options ?
. are the convertables really windy ?
. I would really like side pipes..showing my age...I read somewhere that
Steeda.com sold them but couldn't find them. Does any have a source for them ?

Anyway, thanks for any comment.

I was fortunate to find my black 2005 GT in 2007 with only 22000 km's on it..was driven for two summers, honestly like new...picked it up for about 14000 under sticker..which is great because you have all that left over money for mods!! good luck, you wont be disappointed , with a couple of simple relatively cheap mods you'll have a fantastic car (tuner and cold air intake is a must for freeing up 25-30 horse and incredible diiference in throttle response)..GOOD LUCK AND WELCOME..IF THE WEATHER WERE GETTING NOW IS HEADIN UR WAY , WHICH IT USUALLY DOES, U WONT HAVE SNOW FOR LONG, +12C IN ONTARIO TODAY AND THE TWO FEET WE HAD IS MELTING!!!!!!

Hey...it is great to be here...9 degrees this am..heavy fog..jeez...

I was in the mindset of new but those numbers you quoted a sweet...I assume this wasn't a lease buy back ? Kijiji ? Fall purchase ?

This will be a summer car only for me as well.

Thanks
Ian.

PS - my wife is from Gan and we lived in Ottawa for a couple of years...

I'm guessing it probably was a lease return, but for 22,500$ and only 23000k , no accidents..underneath looked like showroom condition, no leather which is what I wanted..if you are looking at getting leather in your new purchase consider that it's about a 1500$ option I believe.. all the factory tuner cars such as roush etc take the fatory leather off pre use and sell it so they can put their own multi coloured leather in..you can buy complete ford factory leather interior from brenspeed {the tuner company} including both front seat covers and rear seat to put on urself for 295.00$, never been sat in taken out at 0 miles.. just a thought to save a few bucks..

and yes, it was purchased at a local Ford dealership..just got lucky!

Thanks for the tip....not a leather man myself but someone else may be reading and luck out with this bargain...

I gather there is a new design for 09..should push the 08s down in price...

Here is an odd one...I was in at the dealership looking at the "bullit" ..I was chewing the fat and asking if they would install any aftermarket items I may buy before I get the car...ie - sidepipes..he said that they were illegal in NS because you are not allowed to have exhaust come out of your pipe ahead of the rear wheels..I checked the Official Inspectation Station Manual and I don't see anything except for this

"leaking, missing, insecure,
improperly patched, opening is
restricted or deteriorated to an extent
which would prevent the normal
escape of exhaust gases or is not
positioned so as to direct exhaust
gases away from passenger or trunk
compartment"..

Does this sound right to you ?

Ian.

that doesn't make much sense, that would make every big rig in violation of the law when you think about it.....

...I e-mailed the salesman and this was his response...

"I also spoke with our service manager and a technician re side pipes. They both think that side pipes will NOT pass inspection because of the location where they discharge, i.e., before the rear wheels. XXX, our service manager, will confirm and I’ll let you know the answer ASAP"

I also spoke to an independant service center that does safetys and their response was that since the exhaust exited behind the door, there was no problems..

The sage continues..
