I just bought my 2010 gt 2 weeks ago. just wondering how many miles in is a good "breaking in" point, milage number wise. thanks guys

Book says 500 miles, but safe bet is 1-5k as suggested by the board.

I just picked mine up a week ago and the dealer said to stay out of it until the 1st 3000 mile service. "have fun.... but don't be stupid...." was basically how they put it. I live near a track and my part of northern Atlanta is known for tricked out muscle so they probably figured I would be winding it up right off the lot but I'm gonna take it easy to 3000.

I have 2010 V6 so might be different for GT but book says 1,000 miles. My dealer said 500, I will stick with the book. I still have about 400 miles to go. Just avoid hitting the Redline during your breakin.

I just rolled 1000 miles and I run her out...Screw it, the cars going to have warranty as long as I own it....So we'll see how it goes.

I took it to the dealer with about 975 to have the oil changed and they said it's not needed with the newer engines and the synthetic oil. So I figured I would save myself the 42.50$ and just run the stock oil till the oil life meter hits 10% life left or so.....

I wait until I hit 10,000km/h on the odometer, not rubbing with a diaper but varied rpm and throttle. Strongest motors I've had were broken in this way, the weakest were run hard from the start.
