Well just got back from the Boston Car Show. Looked at all the new toys. 10 Mustang is a definite NO GO. Hate the rear deck and lights, interior is ok,front seems like too much plastic in the grill and not a retro in general. The new Camaro looks alot like the Challenger on side views. All and all the 05-09 Mustangs are the true retro pony.
Because Ford has to please the masses! Believe it or not the majority of people don't care for a 300hp car. Good point is that my business partner hates driving my GT. However when I was given a V6 car for a rental, she loved it! Minimal noise, no quick movements when pressing on the throttle, she just likes how the car looks. Ford is right on with offering a lower horsepower V6 to stay in the game. Thats one of the main reasons why it continues to sell the Mustang without a dry spell. I'm gonna guess the V6 Camaro will appeal to the GT types while the SS will be for the GT500 type crowd. Ford has the least amount of financial troubles out of the Big 3 since it knows how to market and sell most of it's cars such as the Mustang.
I tend to agree with CrashedStang06. From an enthusiast standpoint the general opinion seems to be that the 2010 is a downer. But from a business perspective, Ford's decision to reskin certain exterior parts and do a so-so job of upgrading the powertrain thru the PCM is brilliant, IMHO. The cost was absolutely minimal and as with CrashedStang06's example, Ford sells more V6's than V8's. Ford also did just enough cosmetic and power upgrade changes to seriously challenge the aftermarket (which I believe Ford didn't think was going to be so lucrative). Ford went to school on us '05-'09 owner enthusiasts. Some examples come to mind - 1) The new hood - it's a good compromise design that most new buyers will be happy with (and not buy an aftermarket hood) because it gives the car an aggressive look; 2) the 2010 V6 front facia - most people I've talked to like it a lot better than the 2010 GT's (ever wonder why Ford didn't do it the other way?); 3) the strut tower brace is pretty nice but notice how high it stands? Seems like you'll have to keep the new hood if you want to keep the STB; 4) the horsepower upgrade to 315 bhp and a new cold air intake - just enough so that most new owners wouldn't spend another $650+ for a third party tuner (SCT or Diablo) and CAI combo for minimal gains above stock, 5) the Euro-looking rear end - American Muscle appealing to the world market. Yep, it seems to me the MBA's at Ford earned their keep on the 2010 design.
Anyway, that's just my opinion - I could be wrong.

I currently have a 06 GT Vert, and did see the new 2010 at the LA Auto Show. It is a nice update and tastefully done inside and out, however it did not move me like the S197 concept I saw in 2004. I took one look at that car and I had to have it. The big win in the 2010 is the interior, it stomps on the 05-09 in materials and quality, but thats not why we all bought our Mustangs in the first place.
Change is inevetable, but they really hit the styling mark on our s197's and it will take a really cool looking change from the factory to get us MORE excited about our mustangs. 2010's look OK, I'll keep my 05 though. And when mine is KAPUT, I'll probably get another
I am not crazy about the new looks of the 2010. To me it look too much like the Camaro form the front, and I HATE the back. I LOVE my S197!!! Ever since I was a kid I knew I wanted a Mustang, and when I saw the S197 I LOVED it!
Plus when I got my '08 I didn't get it to trade in every few years, I got it to keep until I die and who knows maybe I'll even be burried in it!
All in all I'm keeping my '08, unless I some how can afford a 2009 GT500, but that is not very likely!

I still prefer my '07 vert, and to me she is a beauty, though I rarely drive it. Just sits in the garage covered, with 2300 miles after 28 months, and is all paid for.
My GF's 05 coupe also sits in the garage with 3200 on it.
So now with the Big 3 asking the govt for big loans, and your new elect pres to be in power, who knows what the Big 3 will be told / forced to do. It is possible, they are forced to get rid of the V8's and go 3,4,5,6 cyls.
As we all hear, when the economy gets better, "one day" gas will be up up up again, and congress does not want to drill here.
The whole US auto industry might be in for radical changes, so our cars will be the ticket.
Power to the Big 3 US automakers, it's fun to see what they all come out with.

I love my car. It was one of the first 30k off the line. Like another post stated, I loved it just from the pictures. I actually pre-ordered mine before I even sat in it.
The new one doesn't do much for me. Looks like they are trying to hard to make the out side look different, so they can say it is different. They did a nice job with the interior, but not worth a trade.
the 2010 has a nicer interior i have to admit but the exterior isnt as retro and thats what i love about mine. as far as performance is concerned its not worth it at all it has 15 more hp because of a cai most of us already have that and much more im sticking with my 06
