Default Twin Turbo 5.0 & Coyote in the F-150

"Of course, our sources tell us that Ford is already working on a version of the Coyote V-8 that will separate itself from the rest of the future V-8 engine lineup. In cartoons, the Coyote is only beat by a Road Runner. Look for a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V-8, code-named "Road Runner," with well over 500-horsepower to debut first in the Mustang GT500 in 2012 and possibly, in F-150 Harley-Davidson edition pickups."

The only explanation I've heard is from someone who knows one of the mythical Coyote informants. According to this source, the advantages of DI aren't worth the cost and added prep time of releasing the Coyote with DI. It's a possibility for a later release of the engine in a later model year.

Direct Injection is more expensive and more expensive to modify. If there is one thing that Ford does not want to do is make the engine a lot more expensive to modify. The managers of the Mustang all go to SEMA and a lot of shows and they know all to well that a lot of Mustang owners modify their cars. Some in the aftermarket have already seen the coyote and I am sure that there are some manufacturers already looking at how to get a super or turbocharger bolted on to it. There are DI versions running around Dearborn, but I suspect they will wait to introduce it, at least in the Mustang for now.

What's great about mustangs is that after a new version is released, within a month there are hundreds of mods on the market.

I can't wait for this car! I've already heard smack about the 5.0, but their just jealous!
