There are several threads on the subject including 2 that are pretty new.(One is in the 2010 section anoter is in the S197 GT Talk I think) There are no facts only rumors. 5.0 (maybe a 305 instead of a 302?) 4v dohc, VCT. Making 375-400hp. Who knows when it will be official. 2010 isnt even here yet and this is gonna be an 2011. On the v6 side a rumored Duratec making 300hp.

One of the guys that write for 5.0 mustang mag just did an article on it and like jaja.... says Ford hasnt officially said anything about the motor. I really dont see a reason for Ford to put out that motor, it would be awesome but with the 5.4 why? Everyone loves the 5.0 mustang but why can't they just start making 5.4's an option? Seems like giving every new stang a new motor will increase the price of all of them, when adding another option would just raise the price for that particular buyer.

A Duratec pushing 300? Gotta be turbo, the Focus ST's Duratec 5cyl only pushes 225 with a turbo, even the ecoboost had to be twinturbo to get 365.

Anyone remember a while back when gas was nearly $5 per gallon and Ford was talking about sticking the Ecoboost V6 in the Mustang GT? They were even speculations in automotive magazines that it would replace the 4.6 all together.

Well with Camaro's V6 making 300 hp and SS making over 400, Ford has to answer the call..

Because it's time for something new. The 5.4 is going away. So is the out dated 4.6. Its time for the 5.0 in the GT and a turbo 5.0 in the GT500. You can't just stand still or time(and the competition) will pass you by.

Well, I would have to argue that the Mustang really has not changed all that much as far as performance is concerned and its still a VERY popular car. For example take a look at an old fox body mustang and the brand new 2010 Mustang. Little more horsepower in the 2010 but also a great deal heavier. Roughly 500 lbs heavier. Both cars use a solid rear axle and a 5 speed transmission. Not to mention the performance specs of each car are pretty close even with 20 years to improve the design.

I do feel the Mustang needs to drop some of the dated technology but even if it doesn't the Mustang is still going to be one of Americas favorites.

It may be very popular but the Camaro is outselling the Mustang. It's done so 4 months in a row... and it's not just by a small number, it's a three thousand more and appears to be rising. It'll be interesting to see what happens next year.

It didn't take a crystal ball to see that coming. There's nearly a decade of pent up Chevy fanboy dollars to factor in, plus the new "it" factor for the non-fanboys. I think a better handling Mustang (already) and an equal in the power dept. will work wonders next year. We'll see.

Not to mention a lot of Mustang enthusiasts already have a Mustang since there's never been a time when they weren't selling them In all honesty, I do think the Camaro is (ever so slightly) the better car for the money right now, but next year will certainly change that. We'll see if the Camaro is able to sustain the sales advantage. I have my doubts.
