Default Ceramic or Semi-Metallic?

Does the 2010 Mustang have Semi-Metallic Pads (no track pack options) or Ceramic?

My concern is on my driver side anytime I lightly apply the brakes, I get a loud squeal consistent with the revolution of the tire and the rotor spinning between the pads. It also notice that without apply the brakes, the sounds is still there but fainter. The only time the sounds isn't there is when I apply pressure heavily to the brakes.

This sound is annoying as all hell. And although no dealer can hear because anyone over the age of 45 has apparently been hit with extreme hearing loss. However, anyone of my friends and family can hear it.. and just because they can't hear it doesn't mean the problem is there and the fact that the car squeals without applying the brakes makes me think that it might not even be the breaking system.

Now short of slamming my breaks wherever I go or playing the radio really loud, anyone know how to solve this? Has anyone had the same problem with their car?

I plan on taking it back to the original dealer soon whom promised to fix it all, but I feel they might give me the same two step as the others when they claim they can't hear it... Although I hope they want me to keep coming back for business.

Any help would be great guys!

Disc brake squeal is caused by the pad vibrating in the caliper; usually the outside pad. Ceramic pads will also squeal, but at such a high frequency you can't hear it.

The fix is pretty simple. Remove the outside pad. Clean the back of the pad, and the caliper mounting points. Apply Permatex Disc Brake Anti-Squeal; a blue glue like material. Re-assemble and let sit for a while. That usually fixes it.

I feel like I need to attend some metal concerts, my ears must be super sensitive.

But thanks for the tips I'll definitely give this a shot as soon as possible! I guess I can find this blue glue at the local autozones?

Yeah, you can. It comes in a foil envalope like ketchup from Wendy's. Usually at the front counter or register.

Turns out the squeel was from the driver rear rotor, Warped from factory ....

The dealer re-cut the rotor and smoothed it down... sounds gone as far as I know, and Im alright with that.

Cheers mates!
