Hey guys,

At the moment I'm pretty happy with the sound of the GT. Though in the future, I may want something throatier and deeper.

I see the Borla S Type Axel Back is in my budget and easy to install in the driveway. Has anyone found a comparison to the 2010 Stock mufflers? Would it change the sound, increase hp/tq numbers? or am I wasting my time and money. Or can sound and power only be achieved by a cat-back system?

I mean granted the cat back replaces the 2.5 inch piping with Mandrel bent 3 inch pipes... Would that be too free flowing for a stock N/A 4.6?

Any info would be great, thanks guys.

I guess what would make it easier is the exhaust system any different from the S197 05-09 model? I know 2010's were mostly cosmetic changes with exception to the CAI and suspension. But if I can use the 05-09 videos on youtube as reference that sure would solve this issue for me.

you will likely free up some HP but not a lot. IMO its not cost effective HP nor does it really effect the sound so i'd stick with axleback. I have heard from guys with catback on 2005-2009 stangs that say they felt a little bump but nothing significant.

Borla is a good choice btw

Really I'm just going for a little more sound. The 2010 has a nice rumble, and this gurgle between shifts, but I heard this S197 rev by me that sounded sweet. I dunno if he had an off-road exhaust or cam work. but I definitely want a deeper louder rumble.

i heard SLP LM's and wanted a straight pipe from that day on
