Default Engine/ Car Breakin

This is my first new car. I read in the owner's manual that the breakin period for the vehicle, not just the engine but the vehicle is 1000 Miles. Funny thing is, it says nothing about changing the oil after the first 500-1000 miles and I was under the impression that it was a good thing to do.

I have 450 Miles on the odometer and it has been taking everything I have not hammer on it and run through the first 3-4 gears. Don't get me wrong, I have gotten on it some, but I have been real nice to the clutch on take-offs and she has'nt seen WOT or anything above 6K RPM.

Some thoughts please. Thanks !

Me personally, i would drive it easy for the first 1000 miles. Change the oil at that point too, then every 3K miles.
I know what you mean about it being hard not to drop the hammer though.

+1. go easy for 1k, then change oil and have fun. Don't really wind it all the way out till you hit a little more though. I was easy until 5k was on my car, took almost a year and it drive me nuts lol

Thanks fellas! I will wait till I hit 1000 Miles, but there is NO way I am going to wait a year! I purchased the Premium ESP for 7 years 75K Miles! So if I wreck the engine, then so be it. I only put about 9-10k per year on vehicles anyway so the way I see it is i'll be ready to buy a new, whats hopefully a "Five-Point-Oh" when this one is about coming out of warranty. By that time I will be ready for a new car anyway.

Thanks for the comments. BTW. Do you guys use the recomended Motorcraft oil? 5w-20 Synthetic Blend I think it is? I figured I would use what Ford says to use. Plus I can get 6 Quarts and a filter for about 24$.

i used the motorcraft 5w-20 synthitic blend in my 2004 from its first oil change . when the car got totalled at 90K miles it purred like a kitten and everytime i changed the oil it was surprisingly fairly clean after 3K miles.

I just passed 1K miles on my 2010 and still have not gotten on the trottle hard , i think i'll wait till the next oil change and give it a double break in period

It's fine, I drive my car easily but no harm and punching a few times. I have about 4000 miles on it, gonna change the oil soon.
