Default GT MPG and Data Screen MPG Read-Out Accuracy

Been real easy on this thing, and here is the proof. On my 2nd tank of fuel and I seem to be getting exceptional mileage. Check the pics, my driving consists of a little city with mostly 25MPH to no more than 50MPH speeds (I live on a Air Force Base)

So far according to the car's data screen i'm at 24.7MPG with 171 Miles on the tank and 135 Miles left till empty with gas guage at 1/2 way full.

I was wondering how accuarate the car read-out has been for you guys, and what kind of mileage you have been seeing. As of right now, I am pleased. I am anxious to take a trip doing 70-80MPH the whole way and see how she does.

That does seem really good, but not out of line with what I've heard other people getting. I usually get around 22-23mpg with mixed driving (in town, lots of 45-55mph, some 35mph back roads) and I don't baby it.

The best I've ever gotten is 27.1mpg on a road trip.

Does it work out about the same if you check it the old fashioned way? I don't have the fancy mpg readout on mine, so my numbers are all gallons at the pump divided by miles on that tank.

I've got 6800 mixed miles on mine. The trip computer shows 24 to 25 MPG which squares with the pencil and paper calcs. I have an auto trans.

my trip computer's MPG is consistently about .7-1.2 MPG over what i actually get by doing that math and about 1 gallon off in total gallons consumed. But that being said, i take into consideration the error rate and i have my MPG more or less.

I have seen upwards of 26 MPG on the highway with my GT vert w/ auto trans and lead foot

Thanks guys.... No I have not checked it the old fashioned way, which is what I have done in the past. But I plan on it when I go to fill up this next week here. I'll let you know my outcome.

If your ever bored and on the highway cruising 65~80 and going downhill, hit the reset and watch your MPG skyrocket to 50+ mpg.

Drum roll please!

I filled up. I got 306 miles on the tank and with a hand-held calculator I got 22.02 MPG! Not bad! I babied it a lot, but I got on it some too. Thats a good average of mixed driving for me!

Also, the read-out on the car was 21.6 MPG. Sop somehow, it looks a bit lower than my real world MPG. But it's about as close as I would expect it to be.

Not to shabby! Thats about 2MPG batter than my 99' GT Vert. I am pleased.

On my '05' the onboard reading was .5-1 lower than actual. Did a lot of interstate driving with it and would go for 10-15 miles at a steady 70-72 mph and reset it, and then slow down a bit and then do the same thing but speed up looking for the sweat spot on mileage. Seems like it was right around 70-72 with the stock tires and 3.55 gears. Best on a 280 mile trip was 28 mpg.

Just over 1000 miles on my GT. Took a 200 mile drive this weekend. Mostly 4 lane 70-75 mph with 60 degree temps and got 25.3 on regular. I didn't check the computer but took mileage based on fill before and after. My overall reading showing on the computer is 17.8. I've just been using regular as that is what the dealer said they put in them.

Should have mentioned it is a 5 speed with 3.73 axle.

Just filled up the other day. Mostly easy driving, 1/2 city 1/2 cruising, NO E-Way, one night about 20 miles of romping her out plenty and her first WOT run through gears 1-3.

21.97 MPG - Computer read-out was 22.5MPG so pretty close. I'll keep posting my mileage.

Not bad for a V8...........
