Default 2011 Mustang GT Fourth Check Engine Light

So I have just had to take the mustang to the shop for the fourth time because the Check Engine Light came on again, same lean bank code. Dealer as usual treated me like crap. Would not give me a rental car, vechile was a week old last week, and only has 16,000 miles on it. Service Manger had an integrity when confronted by the General MGR. Got so frustrated with every thing I told them to just clear the damn code and I will take it to car max and sell it to them. Way to go Phil Long Ford, life long ford customer done, back to foreign jobs.

I'm sorry to hear that man... don't let one dealers poor customer service ruin an awesome thing for you. That is one of the best performing cars you can get. Let that end your business with that dealer not the best Muscle car ever made! Switch dealers but keep it AMERICAN!

Don't sell the car because of one problem with it and a poor dealership experience. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was an air/fuel imbalance code, not a lean code. The newer cars with the widebands have a learning curve compared to the older models and techs are getting thrown for a loop. Usually one of the upstream wideband o2 sensors is the cause.

I wonder if American Muscle could send you an SCT handheld to do some datalogging and perhaps diagnose the issue. For a 4th time recurring issue it could take some, ahem, actual expert inspection






...I am a dealer technician for MB and I know of a few 'dim bulbs' but you didn't hear it from me...:laughlitt

Hey... That's pretty cool that a ford customer service rep is on the forum. I have a 92 mustang as a toy. But would never consider a ford as a daily driver... But after seeing this... I may have to Atleast consider it. Ford is the best out of the big three (IMO), but still has a long way to go customer service wise... But I have to give credit where credit is due. Nice job FordCustSrvc!.. Sometimes a little help, goes a long way!

I don't speak often but when I do, I don't have clue what I am talking about. I just repeat things that I once heard and do not repeat them correctly... My doctor told me it was an ID 10 T problem and it was incurable.

Which Phil Long location did you take it to? Chapel Hills or Motor City? I'm going to take mine in for the clutch pedal TSB pretty soon and don't want to deal with getting the runaround if I can help it.

Erod,
To be honest I really don't think it matters both dealers are bad. I think i am going to try MEDVED next. You walk into Motor City and the Service reps just stare at you like you did something by taking your vehicle there for repair, even more funnier there are like 6 or so of them and none of them ever has time to do their jobs. I walked in there today to get the service history on the mustang and stood there for almost 10 minutes waiting for someone to help me, and there was only one other walk in customer there. The Funny about their shop is there appointment system. Your appointment is only have your vehicle check-in not looked at or even scheduled for a mechanic to check it out. Your car could set there all day or the next day till it gets looked at, trust me it has happen to me. Chapel hills the tech and service reps are good but the man the Service Manager has integrity issues, the GM is awesome also!!!!

I would take any mods off also, they were all sticklers on a Cold Air intake voids the warranty, and it didn't matter that car had the codes sereval times before the CAI was installed.

This is the main problem right now with the American car industry as a whole .... IMO....they still don't get that when you spend $35,000+ on a vehicle,.. The sale dies not end there. Once they get your money... You might as well be driving a Honda, to the people that work at the dealerships. Some middle management exec at ford is telling dealerships to void warranties any time it "can" be. They dont understand the concept of customer service. They think YOU owe THEM something!... And that is why I won't buy a new ford... Not until they "get it". And it is a shame. The 2011 5.0 is an amazing machine... But it is backed up bye a collection of money hungry CEO s, and malcontents who work and service your car,... And drive thier Honda home.
