Lower control arm relocation brackets really nesessary?

My Gt is lowered with BMR springs(F-1.25" & R-1.50"). I just bought Steeda Billet lower control arms and adjustable upper , also bought the adjustable panhard bar and bracket and FRPP shocks and struts. Was just wondering if the lower relocation brackets were really needed before I install all of this later on this week and if so which ones would you go with and do they need to be welded?
Thanks for any info and sugestions.

My car is not lowered but I have them. Steeda told me you do need the brackets if the car is lowered, but optional if not. The brackets will put the arms at the proper angle:




RC

Relocation brackets are absolutely not necessary to safely drive down the road. Lowering the car and keeping the stock rear lower control arm location will not cause problems by itself. However, having relocation brackets(especially adjustable ones like RC above) will give you the option to dial in your suspension and help the car bite at launch.

The idea of relocating the rear mounting point is to keep the geometry of the rear control arms so that under torque the rear axle gets pushed down into the road. When you lower the car, the LCAs will angle upward at the axle, and will cause the rear axle to get lifted slightly which may increase wheelspin and/or wheelhop. The relocation brackets will keep the LCAs level.

My experience with them is great. My car is daily driven and when I do go to the track I can lauch hard and keep the car going perfectly straight off the line.

I had my car lowered for over a year before I put the relo's in. They are not absolutely necessary but they will definitely improve traction. Considering their relative low price as well, it's a worthwhile mod. I have not welded mine in yet but they eventually will need to be. I plan on taking my car to a shop to get the exhaust welded together and am going to ask them if they can take care of those as well while I am there.

Big Thanks guys and RC those are the same lowers I bought, and yeah they are pretty inexpensive mod so I will get them to complete the rear.

My car is at stock height and had serious wheel hop. I added Steeda aluminum LCA's and they did nothing. Then I put on relocation brackets and set them one hole from the bottom and my wheel hop is almost non existent. So for me they were required and worth it.

No, they are in line with the axle. Don't strattle or drop a tire off a ledge and they won't hit.

Ford Racing K-springs & dampeners. UPR Street adjustable UCA. UMI LCA & bolt in relocation brackets. Comp Eng. panhard.

I have the BMR relocation brackets set on the bottom hole with the car lowered. They're pretty close to the ground.

Thanks for the photo. That really makes me think twice about slamming my car. Don't get me wrong - I know that completely slamming a car is a continuous liability, but the clearance of these relocation brackets might just be too much.

Can the geometry be corrected with just the upper control arm?

On order: 2012 Gt Premium, M6, Performance White, 401A Charcoal/Grabber Blue, Brembo Package, 3.73, Electronics Package, Comfort Package.

Slamming the car will have no impact on how high the relocation brackets sit off the ground as they are mounted to the rear axle and not the body.

No. The geometry in question is how the rear lower control arm sits between the body of the car and the rear axle. Ideally the control arm will be parallel to the ground. When you lower the body the front part of the control arm will lower but the axle side will remain fixed. This causes the control arm to aim up towards the axle and cause the axle to lose grip at launch.
