2012 V6 to V8 swap, what do i do?

I need a lot of help here. I have a 2012 V6 6mt, and I want to drop the V8 in it. I know I need the wiring harness, PCM (whatever that is) and an alternator. Is there anything else i need, besides the obvious, like exhaust and intake and what-not, like...something for the transmission? my friend said something about needing something between the transmission and the engine, but I have no clue. I love my V6, but I love the V8 even more. Please help??

2012 Mustang V6. Black. 6 speed manual. Bone stock. Can't wait to fix her up.

Just trade yours in for a V8, the time saved will be well worth the money.

Wow.....good luck with your project; you'd come out waaaayyyyy better to trade for a v8 car though......I'll bet it would be much cheaper in the end to trade as well.....

If you really need to swap, find a wrecked GT, then you will have everything you need and be able to sell the body/scrap. Sell your V6 motor to help offset the cost.

going by what the cost of the GTs are, swapping is cheaper. crate engine is 6 grand. you're probably right, finding a wrecked one would be way cheaper, but i doubt i'll be able to find one anywhere close to where i live.

Trade in V6, buy a GT. Putting a coyote in a foxbody is cool but putting one in a 2011-2012 just for kicks makes no sense, unless u are looking for ways to spend money.
Another option is to put a Procharger on your V6.

the cost of the motor is probably less than 50% of the total cost of the swap.....good luck...

A buddy of mine was looking into this.

Stock part prices are usually inflated because they are most often replaced due to an accident and insurance company's are picking up the tab. That's why stock 18's off a base Mustang cost more than some nice aftermarket 20's. It's a way all car company's make a little extra money.

This will figure big in your costs. Most of the parts you need are only made by Ford and are astronomical in price.

My buddy's estimate had the conversion cost close to the price of a base V6. There are a lot of little details that add up fast.

It's not what you want to hear but the others are right. If you have 6k to spend on an engine then you can afford a new GT. Trade in the 6 and use the $6000 as a down payment. Your payment should be close to what it is right now.

You should just trade in your v6, you'll probably get 17k-18k from the dealer and you can get a used 2011 for about 27k and talk them down more too now. So you can trade in and pay about 8k, or go find an engine (around 5k) plus all the other crap that you'll need to upgrade, plus labor. The prices will be fairly close. I'm sure you'll feel much better trading it in and not have to worry about anything that could go wrong with the swap.

No sense swapping for the regular coyote. Swapping for the Boss motor is the only way I see this worth it

Interesting project, have you factored in labor costs or do you plan on doing all the work yourself???? Seems like a lot of cost and effort and then at the end of the day its still not a 5.0 when you get ready to trade her in down the road.

A procharger or trade in for a GT or a Boss might be a better route???

why would anyone want to get rid of the v6 for a v8. the v6 is lighter and the car handles better with it and it has plenty of power.

If you want a V8, buy a V8 car. It's always cheaper to buy it than build it in the long run. Been there, done that. Unless you can do the work yourself you're at the mercy of whoever is doing the work actually knowing how to do it, and what they charge you. And there's a good chance you'll ended up stuck in some hell world of somewhere in between with a big investment in parts and no running car to show for it. Financially you'll never come out ahead.

Plus, later when you want to sell the car no one is going to want to buy it at the price you are going to think it's worth after you've done all that work. And that's if you can even find anyone confident enough in the work to want it.

If you love your dog, get a microchip, they really work! My lost dog was back home in just under 24 hours thanks to the good citizens who called the county and the microchip that told animal control exactly where he lived.
