Default 13 GT rear Diff leaking

I have noticed a fist sized oil slick on the garage floor from the rear Diff. I took a look under the rear end tonight and the oil is completely covering the lower half of the pumpkin and is slowly dripping to the floor also oil has slung up on to the exhaust from the front of the Diff by the drive shaft. I am thinking this might be just a bit more than the "vent tube" leak.

Sounds like you have a pinion seal leaking,I had that problem on my 1997 F 150 pickup truck, took Ford 3 times in the shop to fix it and after the 3rd time the whole rear end took a dump, bearings and all, hope you have better luck,so far my 2011 GT has been perfect, keep us posted as to the outcome.

Yup, pinion seal leaking almost for sure. It happens fairly often on the 8.8 Mustang rear, don't know why.

Shouldn't take the service tech more than about 30 minutes real time to fix.

I was leaving fist sized pools on my garage floor and it turned out to be the vent hose was disconnected.
It was easy to see it disconnected when under the car.

That said, I did not have oil on the front of the differential like you are describing.

I've had my pinion seal replace twice and now need it done a third time. But I never saw a pool under my car, just wet around the pinion. I noticed it when changing my oil.

Must took my V6 in for the same problem...bad pinion seal. I hear sometimes the breather vent can get clogged and the pressure buildup causes the pinion seal to fail.

Hey, check out this thread and my post with pictures (post #52).

Is that what yours looks like? If so, it's the vent. The dealer will clean and fix it under warranty. Part of the TSB is to reduce the fluid level in the pumpkin which ultimately solves the problem.

Either way, be sure to take it to the dealer.

That you can tell is a vent/breather leaking. This is what the OP's looks like. My f-150 just blew one last week.

Yep that first pic is pretty close to what mine looks like, calling the dealer for an appointment.
