It was worth the wait. The car drives great! Way better than factory.
On AEDís dyno my Mustang made 393whp/374wtq SAE with the Airaid CAI and SW Retro catback exhaust and factory tune. The AED Tune resulted in 408whp/382wtq SAE!
The car picked up a significant amount of power throughout the RPM range and 15whp/8wtq peak.
The drivability of my Mustang has been drastically enhanced with the AED Tune. Heck, the engine even sounds better! The power increase can be felt. The power delivery is smooth. Deceptively smooth. The car literally pulls harder and does it without any drama. The engine revís faster and the acceleration has been improved, especially at higher speeds.
The throttle response has also been greatly improved. The accelerator pedal actually feels like it is connected to the throttle blade. To be honest, I much prefer a Throttle Body cable setup for responsiveness. Luckily, with the AED Tune, the throttle response is very similar. The AED throttle response is crisp, direct, and immediate. While Iíll always consider the Mazda RX7 12A engine as the benchmark in throttle response, this setup has proven to better than all of the drive-by-wire setups Iíve driven. Iím impressed. No easy task.
Iím pretty certain that none of us have purchased our Mustangs for fuel mileage. I didnít. But, with the AED Tune, I picked up +2 MPG! Which is great considering that before the Tune I was averaging just 19 MPG combined.
Overall, the AED Tune is an impressive upgrade and has made my car more fun to drive.
I highly recommend Shaun and AED! Iíll definitely be doing business with them in the future!
408rwhp off a tune and CAI (which is like 2rwhp) sounds way wrong.. Is this racing fuel?
Sounds like the shop has their thumb on the scale as far as the dyno is concerned. OP says his car put down 393 with just a catback and CAI which seems pretty high. Maybe he just has a factory freak. At 408 rwhp, he would be making 475 crank hp which sounds like quite a big jump for just a tune and cai and catback.

Exactly I'm sure Shaun at AED uses his Dyno as just a "measuring tool" for Before and After (difference). It's the gains that matter. Also his stock number aren't that off, ive seen track pack cars dyno at 370 add 10hp for intake and 10hp for cat back (which is what SW advertises) you get 390. Nice midrange gains OP!
Shaun tuned my car. He is a very plain spoken guy. I asked him if he uses SAE or STD correction. He said, "STD because people like to see higher numbers." Stock on his dyno my Boss did 404, tuned 411 on 91. The next summer I dynoed it here in Fresno on a Mustang dyno. I got 387 stock and 407 with Steeda CAI plus AED tune.

Not off at all, his power and torque makes complete sense. My 2012 just went to the dyno FULLY STOCK! Not a single add on, NO PROCAL; except for suspension work. I put down 375 on 91 octane. If his car was running race fuel out here in CA, he would be in the ballpark of 415-425. BTW people dynometers do have differences, so your dyno of a different brand will give different numbers guaranteed.
Ok - I have to play devils advocate here - I'm no expert and maybe biased from watching the bama tune video giving an increase of 30+ ftlb of torque (I'm a torque guy - not hp) and I don't have a tune on my vehicle yet. But I'm not at impressed at the above printout as I thought I would be .....
From the graph you've posted I've noticed a few things - it took 9 runs to tune the vehicle ?? (I know you have a few basic mods) and the max torque was only +7 ftlb - not what I would have expected from a tune - I would have hoped for more. Also the torque curve is not even over the stock - it dips & rises - hmmm...... Although there is good low end gains - the gains at 3K+ are small - bama advertises 53+ ftlb - (no I'm not a bama guy) but I'm trying to understand things here - I really thought the tune would wake the car up a bit more??
I know there is more to the tune than power - throttle response, changes to the rpm limiter as well as throttle pedal drive by wire response, keeping knock & other sensors in the safety ranges etc... - but still..???
Not trying to create friction here ... just trying to understand - maybe you asked Shaun for a very mild tune with better engine response and the biggest gain in fuel economy you could get ? or maybe Bama overstates their tune ??
If the above dyno run is what I can expect from a good quality tune - (and I take it there is not a huge difference in #'s between the top tuners) I'm not sure I'll be putting one on.....
Any answers anyone can give would be appreciated ....as I said - I am no expert and not trying to cause any friction ..... just looking for answers...
