I have an off road h pipe in the mail and I currently have a set of Roush ab's on the car. I'm reading that its probably going to be obnoxiously loud so I was wondering. What are some opinions on the best set up for having an offroad pipe and AB combo? I like loud and rumbly but I don't want to set off car alarms just by driving by.
I have relatively the same question man. I would like to get a Catback done. Something nice and aggressive, but not loud enough to piss off the neighbors. Have you thought about doing an X-Pipe?
Get the GT500's and be done. No drone at all, sounds good, and they are cheap. I have them with longtubes and the car is still quiet. Louder than stock but quiet compared to the rest.
GT500s aren't cheap anymore. $500. For about $130 more you can get the ford racing sport axlebacks which are a little louder (from what I read) and still no drone. I'm running the ford racing sports but have never tried the GT500s to compare.
In my limited experience I will agree that the roush's sound great when the rest of your exhaust is stock but can get obnoxious as you go further. If you are looking to not piss off your neighbors then you might consider going with corsa sports, Borla s-types, FRPP sports which are similar to the s-types, or the gt500's. All of these should sound great when paired with your o/r x-pipe and eventually headers if you decide to go that route. Personally I am very happy with my FRPP sports with a Borla after cat x-pipe and the resonators removed.
Has anyone heard Kooks in person? I'd like to hear the GT500's in person to see exactly how quite they are. I do like loud, don't get me wrong. But I just had this offroad h-pipe put on today and over 3k rpms I sound like a nascar, haha. So I guess I'm looking for something between Nascar and Prius but not on either end of that scale.
I have gt500 axle backs and boss 302 h and side pipes. I run them with no restrictor plates and I think it's pretty quiet except at WOT, but hey, it sounds good. Once you remove resonators or change headers, etc it can get loud. I was gonna get Roush ABs, but I'm happy where I'm at. Around the neighborhood is fine, cold start is fine, but when I get on it, people turn their heads.
