Good Evening all, I stumbled across Amo NYC detailing videos on youtube and thought Id give it a try. I bought a cheap Harbor freight DA, AMO's stuff is super pricey so I went with Chemical Guys. I used a Orange Pad with VSS and V38, followed by a Blue pad with Black Light and then sealed with their orange spray sealant. AMAZING!
Our paint is SUPER hard, destroyed the orange pad getting out all the swirls. A few deep scratches remain. Next time I'm going to try miguiras pads and clean with iso first. The results are still AMAZING.
Forgot to add, I replaced the back plate of the Harbor Freight DA with a 5.5" meguiars one. The HF one isn't balanced very well and vibrated pretty severely.
To answer a few questions the suspension is: Ford Racing P springs with Koni Yellows and BMR castor camber plates, Eibach sway bars, whiteline relocation brackets, bmr lower control arms and panhard bar. Ford really did figure out how to make a solid axle handle well. The mentioned mods make it a scapel!

I just need to add bremob brakes and then Ill be ready for more HP! Might go with a HID conversion so I can go to the boss fog deletes. The stock standard low beams are under powered and the fogs help alot!
Looks great, Ive done mine a couple of times. By Harbor Freight I assume you are referring to a Chicago Electric DA polisher. I have one of those too. Mine is pretty decently balanced, maybe you got a dud. I am 💭 no of getti g a different brand when I start feeling better. Not exactly sure which brand to go with. I'm thinking McGuires since I like there chemicals.
The Meguairs back plate is super smothe and by going to a 5.5" you can use 5.5 and 6" pads. Im going to try their line of microfibre pads next month and cut with iso to see if I can get out a couple DEAP scratches.
Nice RIDE, try Chemical Guys black light glaze itll make your paint look 100ft deap.
I am worried I'd get more swirls with the buffer... black is a hard color... if I'm wrong is be glad to hear it. Are there any guys out there that use buffers on black? And if so with which pads and products? Thanks for any input!
As long as you are using a DA buffer with appropriate pads/chemicals you won't hurt anything. Do it right and you'll be removing spider-swrils and superficial scratches.
Just watch a few videos and you'll see how easy it is.
Good job! I use a HF DA on my car with a different backer pad. I've also taken apart the head of my DA and repacked it with a higher temperature/higher quality grease. It does a great job!
Nice carporn USMC, love the colour and that shark nose, Byb it's not real dangerous, just keep the buffer moving, try and keep it cool and stay away from the sharp edges, body lines etc - and YouTube, YouTube YouTube
Just beautiful! Kona blue is such a fantastic color.
