I can't stand the cloth in the newer Stangs. Its night and day when comparing the look of the cloth compared to the leather. But at $27k for a base V6 Premium I'm not sure its worth getting the leather. That seems awfully pricey for a V6..

Base model wins. I mean Ford charges over $3,000 for the premium - for what?

- leather. But it is fake on the rear bench! Only the front is real. I think the cloth looks like very high quality.
- SYNC. That's kind of neat, if u r into that kind of stuff.
- wheels, still only 17".
- bright silver dash. I admit that is nice.
- myColor whatnot...

I would save the thousands of $ and put them into accessories. Like wheels you actually want, really real leather throughout (like Katzkin), etc.

I just installed the chrome interior door handles, and i installed autolamps. I m looking into an auto-dimming mirror. Those are really the only premium features I want.

I thought the wheels are 18"?. Front seats is what counts really. SYNC system is amazing if you have ipod or Zune or any USB device. Being able to not play with your device while driving is certainly better for yourself and the people around you.

MyColor is some what of a gimmick i must admit but, it does look really cool. At night atleast!.

No, 17" just like base, but with a machined surface and painted pockets. 18" are available as an option.

I look at it this way: I want to buy a good value. Ford charges over $3,000 for the premium model - but how much does it cost them to build a premium over a base? $300? $600?
I really don't know. But I have the feeling buying a premium means giving Ford WAY more profit than buying a base. And it's my hard earned $...

The only way to get the Pony or MCA packages is through the Premium Package... Also the power seat is a big deal to me because I have a bad back, it's 8-way including lumbar support VS a 2-way manual seat in the base?

I basically paid invoice - rebates for my car($500 customer cash + $750 mail private cash) so I got a decent deal.

Not true on the cloth. Have you looked at any Mustangs that are over 3 years old? The majority of them with cloth show serious wear.

When I was deciding what to order, it was going to be a premium V6 with most options including climate(thought I needed that) or a base GT. After looking at the base I decided it had a better interior than many other cars including 2 of mine. I currently have 3 vehicles with leather heated seats and they are hot and sticky in the summer and cold and hard in the winter. The speakers will need an upgrade with a amp and sub, but that is easy and not expensive. I have heard that the metal dash trim in the premium can be blinding when the sun hits it just right. Don't need sync as I have a Droid and use a portable xm player that is easy to move between vehicles.

So $3,000+ buy you the "right" to spend another $1,000.

Here in Canada, it's slightly different.

Value Leader (Base Model):

3.7L V6 with 6-speed manual transmission
AdvanceTrac ESC
ABS with Traction Control
Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS)
17" painted aluminum wheels
Easy Fuel capless
Premium AM/FM/CD with audio input jack
MyKey

For an extra 4000$(Can), you can get the Coupe Pony Package that includes all Value Leader features, plus:

Fog lamps
Rear decklid spoiler
Unique Pony Grille and fender badges
18" Polished cast aluminum wheels w/Tri-bar centre cap
Power 6-way adjustable driver seat with power lumbar

You have to get the Coupe model if you want additionnal options like the Interior upgrade package that will set you back another 1700$.

You don't really get much for 4000$ more. I'm pretty sure that the Message Center is included in the base model as well since it's needed to program the "MyKey" thing.

You forgot Shaker 500 w/ SYNC & Sirius on the upgraded package as well as Leather, unless the base model comes with that in Canadia?

Oh thats right. You have to get the Rapid Spec 202a in order to get the 18" wheels.

You can only get those with the Interior upgrade package. But you have to get the "Coupe" model first in order to get those. That's 5700$ more than the base model.

Ya, but the health care is free (especially useful when you wrap it around a pole)

I was looking at the value leader but the fact that you can't order ANY options (except for a block heater) sealed it for me. Think resale value. Plus the fact that cloth seats suck!! 3 years down the road and they are demoed. It's a Mustang and you need the toys!
