Anyone have the Universal Garage Door Opener?

Because, I can't seem to find out where mine is!! I have the 11 V6 with the "Interior Upgrade Package". According to the brochure you are supposed to get a Universal Garage Door Opener (Car2U) located on the drivers visor. Well, it's not there!!!!

Come to think of it the brochure lists "Sun Visors with multi purpose storage" as a standard feature. HUH!!! There is no storage whatsoever on the visors. Just a vanity mirror that doesn't even light up.

Any chance they put the wrong visors on?

Thanks.

Canada Only ??????????

Here in the USA there is no such thing as an interior upgrade package.
Nothing about it here in the Brochure, Ordering Guide, or Accessories.

I know that with my gt premium 401a package we are supposed to get that. I'm not sure what other models are going to have it though. I'll le you know if we get it. We should have our cars in the next week or two.

2x 2011 GT Premiums, 401a, #4 package, tint and stripes

Yeah owning two 5.0s is awesome, but you want to know what's better?

I was wondering the same thing because anyone that has received their 2011's have not mentioned the garage door opener. It was listed as a change for the 2011's back in December, but maybe they decided to not add this after all. I'll find out this week when my car finally arrives.

Thanks s197Gt. It's definitely in the brochure and there are about 4 pages on how to program the thing, beginning on pg.81 of the owners guide. They even give you a website to go to. Lear Car2U System: Home Automation System

I'm curious to know if your brochure lists "Sun Visors with multi-purpose storage" as a standard feature under the V6 standard features, interior, section.

No storage for anything on mine, not even a CD. What about yours?

Maybe you guys are right and they decided not to do it. I'm a little peeved though, because I did pay for it and it would be a handy feature to have.

That website also lists the 11 Mustang as having the system - http://learcar2u.com/vehicles/

Just got my GT Premium 401 interior, and am also looking for the Homelink with garage door opener, as well as the illuminated visor mirrors. The owner's manual tells how to operate both features, but does put the disclaimer "if equipped". If mine isn't equipped, just exactly what do you have to buy to get these 2 features???

What the heck is up with this. My salesman also told me it was in the visor after I had read about it being a standard feature on the V6 and it is no where to be found! I think Ford should be responsible for adding this feature properly to our vehicles since it was promised in the features!!!

Nathan0490, I agree! I bought the "Interior Upgrade Pkg" for $1500.00 UGDO was included in the pkg list. So, where is it?

They probably ran out and somebody got the bright idea to grab a bin of Mazda 6 visors.

I'm going to try for a warranty claim and take it from there. It doesn't even meet the standard feature spec. No storage, No lights. There is a disclaimer in the brochure, but c'mon!!

They eliminated the upgraded visors at the last minute (prior to production) and reverted back to the 2010 spec visors.

Some of the pre-production cars had these visors though, they are shown in at least one of the videos that were released earlier this year.

Ford has the right to make changes to their cars at anytime. There are MANY inconsistancies in Ford's various written documentation and press releases since the 2011 intro last Fall and this is pretty typical.

I always just velcro my GDO right inside the pocket on the drivers door and did the same on my '11 ... very stealthy here and accessable.

Now if my car did not come with an Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror (as Order Guide stated, but later documentation stated it still came with the Comfort Pkg) I would have been more upset !!
... the SYNC Microphone is integrated into the top of the mirror so an aftermarket auto-dimming mirror would not "just swap in"; you'd be stuck ordering the O.E. Ford one O-T-C (or dealer installed) for quite a bit more than an aftermarket one goes for.

Much happier they chose to not integrate a $20 GDO in the visor than cheat me out of a $200+ Auto-Dimming Mirror !!

Thanks for the info Doug, that definitely explains why it's not there. Good tip on velcroing the GDO. I definitely will try that.

For the amount of money we've all paid, these vehicles should have better sun visors. It may be petty, but it sure stands out as been sub- standard.

Maybe there will be an aftermarket for visors with some cool features and an integrated garage opener? I'd pay a couple hundred for one.

So now it is September 15, 2010 and the garage door opener is still listed in the online brochure in the interior upgrade package(Canada). (which I purchased) Should I make a warranty claim or get part of the upgrade package money refunded?

If it says Corn Flakes on the box you expect to find Corn Flakes IN the box.

I agree that's wrong if they still have it listed. They should update the info.
