There is no 2011 Roush stage 3. You may be thinking of the 5XR which is a stage 2 with a Roush supercharger. The suspension is much better than the Shelby but the Shelby's bottom end is built for the blower. When a Stage 3 is released(probably 2012) the Stage 3 should be able to all around out perform the Shelby.

We had a 5XR on our lot just recently with a few additional upgrades on top of the standard 5XR equipment. (Read: big brake kit, extra louvers, etc...)

As far as I've read, the Roush should outperform a stock GT500 in most every way. The price tag would be relatively close by the time you added those extras to the Roush though. (Within 7k I bet). Of course that means you have to find a dealer who will sell you the GT500 at sticker to compare.

The big difference in my mind is that the Roush will be 2-3 times more exclusive. It's also a bit more "flashy". If you are looking for those 2 qualities and want to save between 5-10 grand depending on options, pricing, etc... then go for the Roush.

Well 7thcap,

The differences between the vehicles in a literal sense is relatively small. They both look different, have upgraded suspension, and more power via supercharger. So in a way, they are very similar.

I am not familiar with the R tune package.

But in my mind there are 2 things that are pretty different between the Shelby and the Roush:
1. Appearance and your preference of what Shelby does vs what Roush does.
2. Your opinion of Shelby vs. Roush. Some people would sell their left lung for a Shelby anything. Others think it's just not worth the pricetag. I know of other people that think Roush is very very cool and would jump on that name. It's really up to you.

But in the end, there will probably be a lot of changes between now and Jan 2012 that will pretty much make this decision moot for now!

Why the "turnkey" tuner infatuation?
