Want a paddle shifted transmission for your 5.0?

Here's one for you, http://www.tciauto.com/WhatsNew/File...yoteengine.pdf

You can get a kit complete with paddle shifters and it is rated to handle 850 HP.

Don't know what it costs or what the paddle shifter looks like but it's interesting.

Yes, please leave the antiquated auto from the 1980s that is in there now. I love the nastalgic feeling of P-R-D-3-2-1 without the ability to select shift or hold a gear of my choosing.

While you are at it, please go back to a 3 speed on the manual tranny.

/sarcasm over

Found some pricing listed, just under $6900 plus your choice of converter.

Only other thing is that you would have some chebby parts in your Mustang, this transmission is based on a GM 4L80E transmission case that TCI builds into a 6 speed transmission.

Paddle shifter looks like it is designed to bolt to the back of a 6 bolt custom steering wheel so it might be a chore to adapt to the Mustang wheel.

dang... im a good guess!! haha its about 6900 too much for me. I'll keep my regular manual 6 spd any day of the week. something not right about telling the car when to shift without a 3rd pedal

If you think you need this in your Stang then I think you bought the wrong car.

If this kit works as advertised and it will indeed hold gears until redline then it would be a great way to control the automatic. Automatic cars are always faster and more consistent in the quarter mile and properly setup paddle shifted autos are faster on road style courses too. Manual trannies are antiquated and far too prone ot failure. I don't hear of problems with the automatic V8 and V8 but I sure do hear a bunch of problems with the V6 and V8 cars manual trannys.....

Easy for us guys that bought the manual tranny to say.

However, there are plenty of people who got the auto tranny due to various reasons (awful traffic, handicaps, etc) that should not be hampered with such an antiquated shifting mechanism. Hell, even the Focus (Fusion?) SE has paddle shift I think.

I think it'd be nice in theory, but I'd say it's by avoiding this kind of expendable stuff that they manage to keep the price in the 30s and give you so much car for the buck.

A lot of stuff on my personal list ahead of paddy shifters.

2011 GT Kona Blue - Saddle 400a, 6MT, 3.55, Electronic, Brembo, Glass Roof, HID, Security, Comfort, RearVC, GT500 Mufflers, Procal tuner, Vorshlag brake lines, Boss/CS Fascia, Brake cooling ducts

For $7k you can buy one hell of a supercharger/turbocharger and walk unskilled drivers day and night. If Ford did something like that, it would have to be an option.

Elenora. Watch out, she may kick.

2012 GT Premium: Race red - automatic - 3:31 gears - HID headlights - all weather 19" Pirelli tires - Roush axle-back exhaust, GT/CS Spoiler. Coming soon: quarter panel & rear window louvers

Hey guys, this is not something that is reasonable or logical or prudent, this is something for someone who has more money than sense.

We've all seen those cars, cars where the crazy owner has spent $100K or more on his custom ride that will never see enough real use to make it worthy of the effort.

For those guys it's all about bragging rights.
