Default Thumping noise when driving?

I know diagnosing a problem is near impossible via forums, but I just wanted to check if anyone has had this problem with their 11-12 mustangs before taking it in to get it looked at.

While driving I hear a subtle thumping sound coming from the driver side of the vehicle, possibly towards the front. When taking a curve to the left, the sound is amplified 10x, the thumping noise is much more audible, my best guess is it's 2 "thumps" every second. It only gets louder when taking a gradual curve to the left and more so on deceleration while taking a curve to the left. I don't know how else to describe it other than a "thump." It's not a metal on metal sound, like a clank.

Also, at the same time there's been a sporadic metal on metal clank sound that sporadically occurs during turns or reversing. I have yet to be able to consistently replicate the sound and it randomly occurs.

I'll be taking it in on Monday to get it checked out but has anyone experienced this with their 11-12 mustang? I haven't done any suspension work to the car and the sounds just started happening out of the blue. The car is rarely driven, ocassionaly on weekends, and there hasn't been an incident that could have caused any problems with the car- one day it just started making the noise. Any feedback would be appreciated.

A thumping sound like you describe always makes me think of a tire defect...broken belt, etc. Wheel bearing also a possibility.
Hope they find the issue for you.

I have heard a thump or thud/poping noise every once in a while. Under braking and full wheel turn to the left or right. Also when it makes the noise I can feel it in the steering wheel. Well be going to the dealer this coming Wed.

Sounds like it could be the LCA bushing issue that many are running into. Ford issued a TSB to replace the bushing in both LCAs. Pretty sure it applies to all 2011 and 2012s built before April of 2011.

Thanks for the responses, like Jaysizzle said I can definitely feel it in the steering wheel. It's definitely coming from the front driver side and during slooooow 1-5mph movement it makes a squeek. It was hard to hear because of the exhaust but when releasing the clutch to let the call roll without giving it gas is when I can hear the squeeking. Any other time it's drowned out by the exhuast. It seems like it squeeks once on each tire rotation, faster the speed, the quicker the squeeks are.

During normal driving, still the same thumping sound, more prominent on gradual left curves. Anyone know what the TSB number is for the LCA's or does this even sound like an LCA issue? Hopefully dealership will have an answer and a fix and I'll post up what happens.

What about the rythmic 1 to 1 thumping sound? What was the repair for that?

The "thump" sound is obviously a suspension issue. This should be a no-brainier for the dealership to fix. The metal on metal sound is got me curious. I have it every once in a great while. Sounds like two aluminum thermoses hitting each other. The sound seems to come from the dash behind the steering wheel.

Others have reported this sound but I have yet to hear of anyone finding out what it is. Please post if you get an answer/fix.
