Who's got the highest mileage no problem MT82 out there...?
Every time someone posts that their MT82 is working just fine somebody drops in with a "just you wait, it will crap out" comment....getting a little tired of all that......
After reading all of these threads on the MT82's there has to be high mileage MT82's out there with no problems....?
Post up your no problem MT82 mileage......
I'll start, over 4000 miles now and working fine.....
Those of you wishing for the rest of us to have problems need not reply.......
B Unit-- love the alloys in your side photo -- looking for a set for my Crown Vic.. I just favor factory alloys over any aftermarket-sorry to our sponsors !!
My '12 is a virgin...4600 miles...and, I don't strap her on and fret that today might be the day. It was 42F this morning as I backed-out of the garage. No issues yet. :bigthumbsup
My car (2012 GT) is still a todler, mileage-wise at 1200 miles, but it seems like some people are having problems with the cars right off the lot. Anyway, at the mileage I've had zero problems with the car or the transmission. My car sleeps outside and it dipped into the mid-40's last night (it was 49F according to the car when I started it this morning) and it shifts the same as it always has.
From everything I've gathered here the problem pops up in the first 3k miles or when you driven them when it decently cold outside. If it doesn't pop up by then you're probably golden. Drive em like you stole em:bigthumbsup
Personally I'm not at all convinced it's a design flaw with the tranny. I think it's more likely Chinese assembly cutting corners or something else in the build of certain cars that kills the transmissions.
There was somebody on here that had the problems pop up at 12K miles. Usually, if a problem exists it will show up quickly in my experience though. This is what scares me about this transmission. What happens way down the road is a major concern.
I know the title says "No problems" but I'll post my story.
My car went approximately 8500 miles with no problems and then I started noticing a 5th gear grind which became more frequent so at 8900 miles I brought it in and ended up having 5th and 6 th gear syncros replaced. Since then I've added 5300 miles and its still performing like new! And "New" means like it did after the first 500 miles when the notchy-ness went away once it was broke in.
I'm babying mine but had it for over a year with no problems 9188 miles. (and by babying it I mean not driving it unless I have to but when I do its amazing lol)
Oh, I forgot to say that my car's MT82 keeps on getting better and better. No more crunches, no more notchiness. The car never grinded. Never hopped in gear. Never popped out of gear. I had the fluid TSB done, that's it.
I will also say this: my transmission/driveline does have a lot of clunking sounds, BUT! This DOES seem to be normal, and no I am NOT a Ford customer rep because I'm saying this. I am someone who has done my research and spoken with many sources. The clunking noises are small purposeful tolerances in the driveline just like in a built race car. It's also just a characteristic of hydraulic clutch systems, especially ones with such long throw friction points like in our Mustangs. People with MazdaSpeed 3's experience this big time. Same in my buddy's 370Z. That thing makes a CLUNK when depressing the clutch. I'm not worried about my transmission at all.
Take it out of gear and see how much you can rotate the drive shaft by hand. If it seems like a lot bring it to the dealer. At least one Boss owner had a new diff put in because of that under warranty.
My 2012 Boss was born on Friday the 13th of May, and I picked it up on June 13th. The trans was notchy at first but now at 6200 miles it's "magnificient." Absolutely perfect. If you do have trans problems, insist on a new trans if they can't fix it. A new one has a very good chance of being perfect.
yes if you wouldnt go into MT-82 issue threads you wouldn't hear our crap. For the record mine went into shop for 5th gear grind and every damn sncro looks like a grinder was taken to it and it shifted fine besides 5th. 60+ parts will be replaced! So stay out of the problem threads if you don't want to hear my/our crap. And yeah 4000 miles aint nothing. Since your an azz I hope yours goes out at 60200 miles!:smilie
Very good thread to start.I now have 3800 miles with zero problems, and my build date was May 25th 2010.car sat on the lot until I bought it on February 17th 2011.
