Mustang vs Mustang GT vs Boss 302 vs Cobra

What made you choose your car?

I have been dream about getting a 5.0 for a few years now and I finally picked one up. I went with the GT 5.0 for a couple reasons. First, the Boss 302 is amazing (drove my friends a few times), but an extra 12K wasn't worth it for me. You can do a few mods (less than 5k) to the GT and it is just as fast in a straight like, if not faster. Second, I would not go with a V6 because I would not be able to reach my goals with what I want to do with this car. Lastly, the 2012 Cobra isn't worth the money. Way to heavy and the handling isn't great. If you buy a GT at sticker and put 10k/15k into it, it would smoke almost anything on the street and you could make the suspension pretty amazing. You would save about 15k and have a better car in my opinion.

2012 Mustang GT 5.0- Brembo brakes, Borla Atak exhaust, Roush billet grille and Boss Front Splitter.

Not a V6 fan, love the V8. Need good handling for the mountain roads and wanted a convertible.

There was only one choice.

I went with the GT because I wanted all the "bells and whistles" along with the performance. I considered a used GT500, but the gas mileage was a deal breaker.

My Mustang is my daily driver, and for me, the GT offers the best balance of comfort, power, and fun for the price.

By Cobra, you mean the GT500? There hasn't been a "Cobra" per say since 2004. There is no 2012 Cobra.
If I had the money I would have the GT500 or a Vette.

By 5.0 is not my daily driver. I have been a Mustang buff since the early 90's so you can say it's kind of in my blood.

SOLD: Black 2011 GT 5.0.

I've chosen Mustang V6 for exactly the same reasons as stated in the above quote about GT

There is no 2012 Cobra. The last car with that name was in 2004.

If you are referring to the Shelby GT500, don't forget it's had that name since 1967 and is not a nickname.

As far as being too heavy and not handling well, might I add it turned a 2.58 at VIR which is very, very quick.

I fell in love with the '12 Mustang body and sound when I saw a '12 Boss in person the first time, but I had to look past the (for me) juvenile graphics and overly-colorful wheels. I also couldn't see the price jump over the GT, while the GT500 was just stupid-expensive.

The GT was the best balance of desirable features. The price was a bonus. That sweet V8 with a 6-speed is like sex... just can't say no.

2012 GT. Black. 300A, 55D.

I liked the fact that I was getting 305hp, very close to what the 4.6L got but 30mpg and six speeds. I also knew I would mod the car so I wanted a decent entry price along with some amenities.

I know that the GT500 isnt actually a "Cobra" like the Terminator Cobra back in 2004 but it still has the Cobra badges, so technically it's still (nicknamed) a Cobra, right? That's just what I think though.

That good ol' red (Boss 302), white (GT/CS) and blue (5.0)!

Well, I thought about a Boss, but really wanted leather and some of the other features only the GT provides including paint color choices. I've driven both and even though the Boss sounds faster, due to the quad exhaust, seat of the pants in a straight line wasn't all that different. Plus the fact that the dealers in my area that actually had a Boss on the lot were marking them up 5K over MSRP . So I got the poor man's Boss, a Brembo GT.

2012 GT Premium, Sterling Gray, 6MT, 3:73, Brembo Pkg, RR Sensing/Security Pkg, Comfort Pkg, Borla S.

No, A Cobra is a Cobra. A GT500 is a GT500.
Ford "borrowed" the Cobra badge from shelby per say back in 1993.

The AC Cobra is the true Shelby Cobra. The Shelby GT500 is that, a GT500, not a Cobra.

SVT used the name Cobra back in 1993. There has not been a SVT Cobra since 2004.
